After having to replace my 2012 JGC Overland which was totaled by a deer in November - with my 2014 JGC Overland, I've been trying to get the new Jeep equipped about the same as my old one was, after 2 years of mods.
I just installed the Go Rhino! D360PS Dominator Polished Stainless Steel HitchStep a couple days ago. The installation is really painless and doesn't take much time at all. Something I learned with my first rear hitch step, was that there is play in the receiver.
To make sure everything was tight with no rattles or play in the hitch - I again used the Tow Ready 63232 Silver Locking Silent Hitch Pin, which I bought from Amazon. I like that it takes the side to side play out of the hitch receiver, and prevents rattling and clunking. My old Jeep still had play in the receiver, so I used a Roadmaster Quiet Hitch. I decided because noise is an enemy, to use it again on the new step hitch. It is just a precaution but I used it as an anti-theft device as much as I did to prevent rattling.
Here are some pics of the results - they were taken right around sunrise so the low light conditions weren't the greatest.
I like the rear hitchstep as a preventive measure against idiot drivers, especially in parking lots. Also use it all the time, to load cargo, and when I detail the Jeep to wash and wax - makes for easy roof access. With all the sensors now on the rear bumper, it's cheap protection and easily installed/removed.
