Now that's a different subject....

The ability to change colors and intensity was listed in some brochures early on, but dropped as a factory option before production (so I have read on this forum). You can buy a stand-alone lighting package from Chryco on the oft-listed website and add it in yourself. There is another thread here on that topic.

Re: interior lighting for floor and cupholders

The factory ambient lighting is the cupholder, overhead mini-console downlight and front door handles/lower pockets. It is a light greenish color, matches the other dash/door buttons and lights.

The multi-color footwell ambient lighting is an optional kit from Mopar. Installation is somewhat involved and you have to take apart a lot of the dash and console to install it. Also, the kit is not cheap and if you have the dealer install it will be even more expensive. I am not about to start tearing my GC apart, cutting/splicing wires and inviting rattles down the road to add this feature. Do a search, there is a recent link with detailed informaton and photos of an installation in a member's GC by a dealer.

I have driven many Ford SUV's from our company fleet with their multi-color ambient lighting. It is interesting for about 5 minutes, then you get bored and tend to pick a color and stick with it. The foot-well lighting is a little annoying when driving at night. Personnally, I much prefer my GC ambient lighting - just enough and I like the greenish color.

Re: interior lighting for floor and cupholders

I dim the crap out the interior all together. Call it old eyes but with as bright as it can get in the interior, that makes it harder to see at night.
