Re: Is it easy to replace Laredo Headlights with Limited HIDs

any update on this? This is pretty much the only reason I would get a Limited over Laredo X. I have HID's now so I can't imagine going back to regular.

Re: Is it easy to replace Laredo Headlights with Limited HIDs

I'm wanting to do this as well, so I went to my dealer today with the parts I bought. I was told that they could install the headlamps and use the different wiring (I bought wiring harnesses that specify Bi-Xenon), but there was no guarantee that it would work. I was also told that they may have to program the ECU to recognize the new headlamps.

I'm waiting for them to get back to me after they call Chrysler to see if this can be done.

For those curious, here is a list of the parts I bought.

68078977AL - Wiring, Front End Module (this is what plugs into the headlamps)
68088353AC - Wiring, Headlamp to Dash (bought just in case it was needed for the power distribution center)
55079410AG - RH Headlamp w/HID
55079411AF - LH Headlamp w/HID

Re: Is it easy to replace Laredo Headlights with Limited HIDs

It will not be easy neither cheap. As here told you,

1) Harness is different. This is because HID headlights have more wires for the extra funtions.
2) Power. Ecu modifications to run 35 watts will be needed, otherwise they will be flashing or heaving you problems. Thay are some tricks to make them work fine like relay, resistors, can-bus box, etc but all of them soon or later will fail.
3) Aligment. HID is automatic, on halogen isnt so im not sure if you could make them work.

Re: Is it easy to replace Laredo Headlights with Limited HIDs

It's a no-go for the dealer install of the wiring. I'm gonna have to rig up a wiring harness like the WK owners do. I'll post updates as I make progress.
