Is your aftermarket Mopar lighted door sill inserts flush ?

I recently installed the Mopar lighted door sill inserts and had to use a dremel to cut slits in the plastic to install them .
I have a Laredo so the plastic is all one piece . There is no brushed aluminum insert's like the overland, limiteds

They now sit about 3/16 " above the plastic.
The tabs on them were pushed thru the slits as far as they could.
I am wondering if I were to buy the plastic sills from the limiteds/overlands that have the brushed aluminum insert's they would probably be thinner or at the very least, have pre cut slits in them for the scuff plates that would allow me to make my lighted ones more flush ?

I looked at overland and limited's and the scuff plates are flush.

Has anybody noticed this or installed them on either package ( Laredo's or overlands)

The dealer has no idea

I'm sure it can be done with the stock laredo door sills, but what you need is the sills that come standard on higher trims (with the brushed aluminium inserts). It's sort of a two phase upgrade if you have a laredo. That's what I did for a guaranteed fit.

Re: Is your aftermarket Mopar lighted door sill inserts flush ?

Sorry . I've been gone.

Yes I did just try to install them on my Laredo sill's and the lighted inserts wouldn't go flush enough for my liking.
I had to cut openings (for the tabs on the lighted ones) on my Laredo sills of course because its all one piece.

Looking at the higher trim levels on Jeeps at the dealer I saw that they are flush.

I see yours are flush too.
So did you order from the dealer and just tell them you want sill's from any overland , summit, or limited model ?
If you don't mind, how much did they cost ?

Thanks

Todd

No problem! These were the first thing I changed on my Jeep. I was reading around that someone else ran into a similar issue when they asked the dealer to install the illuminated plates.

Turned out that you needed to upgrade to the brushed scuff plates in order to then do the illuminated sill upgrade. What I did was I went to justforjeeps and went to the WK2 replacement parts section of the website. This is a link to the part I used

http://www.justforjeeps.com/frdoscpl.html

Another possible issue I would take note of is that these scuff pads are for a black interior.

Edit: There is actually a color selection on that link so you should be good to go. If you get these it will look factory fresh.

Re: Is your aftermarket Mopar lighted door sill inserts flush ?

I installed them on my Overland. As you mentioned, they are flush on the overland (basically a straight swap of the silver plate), so I didn't come across any issues.

Not sure if the Overland plastic is thinner or not as you questioned. It would seem there is some kind of difference if yours do not sit flush.

I ordered straight from my dealer's parts department, just gave them the part number. When they came in, I installed myself.

This info might not really help you out at all, but I figured I'd chime in with my experience on the Overland.
