Re: It's just a scratch.

No metal involved. It appears to have scratched only the plastic fender flare and the bumper. You can order a new flare and have it painted and replaced. As far as the bumper that's up to you if you want to have it resprayed. Maybe that part is salvageable I'm not sure.

Re: It's just a scratch.

I told her at supper and she thought I was pulling her leg until I showed her the picture. Felt really bad about it and couldnít believe that she did that. But as they say, there are bigger things in life to worry about then a scuff mark on a vehicle.
Iím going to check out a body shop as well to see what they would quote. Maybe even just swing by the dealer and see what they have to say.
We used the dent guys years ago to repair a big dent on the sliding door of our Astro van. Big wooden gate got caught by a gust of wind. It was completely repaired when they were finished. Iíve heard good things about them as well. On the web there seems to be a lot of shops doing the work so it must be good quality. Or great margins.

Re: It's just a scratch.

Take it to a reputable body shop. Last thing you need is to have 2 shades of red lol

Hey look at it this way its not that bad.

Had a ex gf of mine curb 2 rims, scuff my front bumper, and filled up the tank with 87 on my old WK1 SRT, all in one day. LMAO

Had to replace 2 rims and have the bumper resprayed. Expensive. lol

I don't even want to think what a new fender flare would cost. Dealer pricing on parts is absurd. The bumper took a minor hit. The majority is on the flare.

She already scratched my front passenger winter rim a month after I had them installed. At our last house she would regularly drive over the sprinkler head on the corner of the lawn. She turns too tight at corners as well. Itís like she doesnít realize how close she is to the curb. Iíll be with her when she makes a right hand turn at an intersection and Iíll just be waiting for the crunching scraping sound sheís that close. I love her but when it comes to cars she treats them like theyíre just a way to get around. I guess guys are just more attentive. If chicks spent as much time and attention on their car as they do on their face it would look spectacular.

I went to a Chrysler body shop today. Same type of repair, remove the trim and fill and sand etc. Heíd paint the entire rear bumper as well. He claimed the dent and chip places are more for minor door dings etc. Iím at 1K now. So $350 higher.

I have one more place to check out for a quote.

Why would he paint the bumper?

That's what I thought it's the plastic fender flare that's pure plastic. Buy new and paint n ur all set.

Good question. I was in a bit of a time crunch when I stopped in there. I went over a few things then had to get going.

I need to get back there and discuss the details of the quote. Just for the hell of it I'll ask my local dealer for a price on the flare.

Care to take any guesses ?? No cheating !!! I'm guessing $1400 + paint

I feel you. I am starting to think I am not made to have anything nice. My wife backed her escalade into the back of my Ram SRT-10 about 5 months ago. Sucks ass... Not only did I have to thing about getting one truck fixed, I had to look at two...

Re: It's just a scratch.

Just for jeeps has the flares at $1250 for a set, all four. Are you saying he wants that for 1?
Any good body shop can get an OE flare and either paint the whole bumper or blend an area with no problem depending on quality and preference.
Low end around here would be $5-700. Dealer is low end here

Properly done R&R the bumper/flare and paint match all parts my favorite place would get $12-1500 but you'd never know.

Re: It's just a scratch.

I think a good tape job and you could do it on the truck without removing anything. Even the bumper could stay on and the painter could use the flare line that is molded into the bumper as a stop point. Remember, the flares and bumper are plastic and the fender is metal so a true paint match may be hard just because of the different materials being painted, but a good body shop should come pretty damn close and be able to blend the bumper part. Good luck.
