Hoping someone can tell me if this is a factory HID wire harness or one that is being made so JGC owner with standard headlamp can switch over to the HID's. If this is an aftermarket harness does anyone know who made it and what functions it will perform.
Hey Josh. I am currently on the waiting list for this exact same harness from Jeep_addicted. Did you encounter any issues when installing your harness to your jeep? Mine is a 2014 Jeep GC Limited. Any error codes being thrown? Do they perform just like OEM ones found in the overland models like the DRL shutting off when the turn signal is activated? Direct plug and play?
xJoshxx, I have a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee, altitude. Yes I know Ching Ching on Hid's. I was thinking it was aftermarket and that it may have be made by ProjectoReteofits but not sure. Thanks all for the info and if anyone can confirm who made it that would be great.
Regardless, you would not need his harness for those headlights. Those are direct replacements for the factory halogen headlights. Look at the pic that shows the back side of the light, it has multiple sockets. The factory bi-xenon headlight has a single, much larger socket.
I have one of his harnesses and just did the swap a couple weeks ago, so I can speak from experience.
Pyromike the harness you have on the picture is the work of Joe Wassman of (projectorretrofits.com) I don't even know if you is still in business but if he is you won't get a response if you are asking about a Grand cherokee application.
Most of the mess of wires is an off the shelf MOPAR specific harness from www.theretrofitsource.com. I tried to share my information with him but he said that the way I produced my lowbeam adapter was too much work.
The benefits of solution is that you are not using resistors to trick the headlight circuits which will eventually fail since you are subjecting them to constant heat while in operation.
I don't think he ever really produced a harness that worked well for very long.
I ended up helping a member on here salvage a harness he bought from that guy. It was poorly put together literally one side was connected with crimp connectors while the otherside was held together with wire nuts.
I ended up just salvaging what I could from the harness and building the guy one of mine. I still have the Morimoto MOPAR bixenon kit laying around if anyone wants it just pay $12 shipping for the meduim flat rate box and it's yours
Making a 2014 harness is not easy so i am not bashing the guy becasue LORD knows I have had my share of setbacks with the headlight conversion harness project.
I was actually having issues with my HID's i installed and was thinking i needed the harness from the member here but yea i think his harness is more so if you are getting the factory style headlights. For me, just the HID and ballast (35w) did not work and constant flicker with a 55w ballast. That went away soon after i purchased a Canbus anti flicker from Diode Dynamics. Solved my problem and am currently using the 35w ballast. Now i need another one of those anti flicker for my fogs.
Thanks for your reply. My 2011 5.7L Overland does not have the Halogen's. I have the Bi-Xenon HID headlights with SmartBeam. Most of the posts I have read talks about the conversion from Halogen to HID's. Since my Rig lighting set up is slightly different, I have not seen anything specific about the upgrade in terms of wiring. Any ideas on how I can do that? Thanks.
