I ordered set of Ohio Diesel Tow Hooks and I just received them in the mail. I've been a long time lurker on these forums and decided I would make a video review for these recovery points. I was very impressed with the build quality, customer service and price.

Hey do you still have the video of how they worked out for you and are you still happy with these? I'm thinking of ordering these. Was between these and Chief Products but they are out of stock for the last few months and have given no update on when they will be available again in the US.

I agree with some points from one side and most from another. I do hate when people overindulge in pricing based on a unique market and product "engineering" but not when the do provide a better product. Two points stand out one the chief made, if the innovative stop making the initial investment then the followers won't have anything to copy. We do need to see the value in the pioneers but usually the followers eclipse them after a while because they streamline the process and people are cheap and willing. The pivotal one for me is simple, all steel aside the Ohio product will fail before the Chief product in this case and it's a tow point so 90% of people can and will cheap out but I wouldn't. Companies need to learn the balance though between market and marketing a product. Chief makes world class stuff but if they sold 1000 sets of hooks they'd be cheaper and might subsidize the cost of other products, there's a reason why a small business does or doesn't become a large company, sometimes they don't want to either. I'm just glad Chief does what they does and I'll be swapping my OE hooks out for theirs soon.

There are posers out there who put hooks on the front to look beefy and off road and will never leave the pavement. Their hooks might as well be made out of plastic. Then there are the guys who cheap out and want to sue somebody when a hook snaps and kills or injures somebody. There are a lot of forces involved here if a hook is used as a hook. Similar to the forces involved in frame straightening equipment. We lay a jacket or blanket halfway across a chain pulling a car frame and if the clamp pulls loose the chain will stop dead right there at the chain. It's amazing. I do the same thing when using a tow strap. It could save somebody's life.
