OP said rear door. I think he is referring to what I call a tailgate. If you look, or just feel all the way to the right when you put your fingers underneath to open it, there is a button.

I'll bet a nickel (wooden or otherwise) that that is the reason the owner's manual calls it a "lock only button", in the caption under the picture.

Re: Just Notice in my 2014 Overland

Now I see the button. I remember that my Summit had a small decal saying it was the lock button. But I never use the thing.

I'd rather have my remote operated liftgate open with 2 clicks (instead of 4) like its supposed to do. This to me is even more important than lowering automatically when placed in park or having ACC with stop.

Does your thumb get tired, or does counting to four stress you out.

That was worth a laugh. My thumb has stress cracks from all the excess use. I also bet Jeep will not warranty a new keyfob when the liftgate button doesn't even work anymore from all the extra wear and tear.

Re: Just Notice in my 2014 Overland

Hmmm... Never noticed the lock button on the hatch handle... Cool!!

Along the same lines, I was wondering earlier this week how I would start the car with a remote with dead batteries. Turns out you hold the blunt end of your remote against the Start/Stop button to start it.

I guess the manual is good for something...
