I've read most if not all the Katzkin threads in the WK2 section and I've decided to get it done.
I can get a great deal on the following Katzkin kits for my 2011 Laredo E:
Black with Flat Perforated Inserts and Black Piping (Factory Overland)
Black with Gathered Non Perforated Inserts and Black Stitching (Factory Limited)
I don't know which kit to go with. Both look nice in their own right. My concern with perforated is how durable it will be. Will it rip overtime. As for gathered, I wonder about premature wear.
Your thoughts on that?
Both kits have full leather on the face of the front seats (vinyl on the sides and back) and leather inserts on the rear seats (vinyl everywhere else). I'm debating whether to bump that up to full leather on the rear seats but that will add around 200$. I personally don't think it's worth it but who knows?
Did you decide yet? I'm wondering the same question for my 14 Laredo. I'm thinking about doing it once the new car still dissipates ha. I've seen more luxury cars with the gathered leather look, but I'm kind of drawn to the perforated seats. I've seen my buddy's 13 Nissan Altima have some slight wear with his perforated seats, but Katzkin is supposed to be higher quality than stock, so I'm not sure.
I'm very much leaning towards gathered. I'm an angler and hunter and having perforated leather would be a nightmare for grass, pine needles, dirt, wet clothes, etc. So yeah, gathered is where I'm leaning.
