Lamin-x

so i got my lamin-x tail light tint today and i gotta say, that stuff can be a bitch to work with, especially around the outer brake light. theres definitely some imperfections, from a distance you cant notice it too much but up close you can. will they even out over time? im thinking about removing them and having tints done professionally or there is an auto place like 25min from my house who is lamin-x certified so i might just order it again and have them install it. here are some pictures.

this is my best one

Re: Lamin-x

Yikes. I don't think those bubbles and creases are going to come out over time.

I'd just have them redone by an installer who will work with the product.

It appears you did a better job than I did when I attempted the Lamin-X install on mine though. I quit about halfway through the second taillight.

I think they should be pretty easy to remove with some more heat being applied to them while you peel.

ImageUploadedByJeepGarage1428986761.584527.jpgi did mine myself back in 2012 and they turned out great and are still in perfect condition. Just takes time and patience. And I have some experience with Vinyl. Just got a new set in today from Lamin-x for my fiancÚ new altitude.

Re: Lamin-x

The shop will have their own laminx film so probably no need to re order the kit. They will just cut custom pieces to size. I let the pros do it and they came out great. Didn't trust myself at all for this install.

Re: Lamin-x

ImageUploadedByJeepGarage1430400504.820417.jpg so here is a shot of my fiancÚs 15 altitude that I just did with Lamin-x smoke, and my 12 in the background with gun smoke. I installed both my self, here's turned out perfect, and mine after 3 years are still in perfect condition!

So you can see the difference

With the running lights on, makes them look like the SRT tail lights I think... Love the look!

Re: Lamin-x

If they are a LaminX installer they will have the material. I ordered the kit and went to the installer with it and he said he will give the kit a try but prefers to use his own material. Have an appointment for tomorrow getting headlights done in tint and tails done in smoke. We'll see how it turns out. 😕

Re: Lamin-x

Well another mod day got the LaminX done today. Looks freakin awesome did tint on the headlights. And smoked on the tails and spoiler brake light. I only have these pics from inside installers shop as he wants to keep it overnight to make sure there is no shrinkage of the material. He said LaminX does not like a chilly damp environment. Which happens every night where I live. Oh and by the way I have a complete set for heads and tails of LaminX that I ordered but did not use because the pre-cut kit is for the GC's that do not have HID headlights. So I just had him use his own material. If anyone is interested in purchasing this from me let me know. Otherwise I will just return it to LaminX.

Re: Lamin-x

^ Very nice.

That tint over the headlights cleans the front end up as well as the Lamin-X did the tails.
