Re: latest mod

It's South Florida, I keep what I catch. Really it's 7+lbs of cast steel, head on it'll provide an alternate stopping point, really it's a slight visual deterrent, a parking spot bump stop for the respect impaired, and a knee knocker.

I really like the beaver tail for its coverage and function but in an impact it imparts a lot of leverage.

Hahahahaha thats awesome! if someone taps you while parking behind you or gets too close you can rip their entire bumper off.

Re: latest mod

If some one gets so close they hit it, then that is their fault! Not a dick move at all and also has dual purpose!

Re: latest mod

I used to leave my trailer hitch attached to my '04 just for the same purpose. Saved myself quite a few times with it - hat bumper was spotless

Not a dick move at all. People who rear end others are mainly due to them not paying attention while driving. I'm insurance guy. I know. haha!

I agree, it's like trying to stop momentum with a sword rather than a shield. You would probably be better off with a tow hitch or one of those bumpers designed to take a hit rather than that, as it may slice the offenders bumper AND still hit you

Re: latest mod

Some states and even small citys can ticket you for that...depends on there ordinances.
also I read awhile back that should you get hurt if your rear ended, seeing that you modified the bumper structure, thats designed for vehicle safety, the insurance may or may not pay squat

Re: latest mod

i dont see how its going to result in more damage. all the times i have been rear ended i would estimate the speed of the offending vehicle was less than 10 mph. sure someone hitting me at 30 or god forbid higher this wont help but those times when i have someone checking their facebook in traffic behind me it gives me peace of mind.

Re: latest mod

Rhexis do you have a link for your step / beaver tail? I like it. For me, I have a D-ring as my receiver cap. It hardly sticks out.

Re: latest mod

thats where i got mine too. the only issue is its not tight in the hitch. to fix that i put some electrical tape on it. i also put some grip tape on the top as its pretty slick when wet.
