latest mod

just a little background first. in the last 3 years i have been rear ended 4 times. 3 times in my cx9 which i traded in for my overland and once in the wifes x5. all 4 times have been on the highway in traffic and low speed i would say less than 10 mph. i just purchased this and think it would help in these types of collisions. is it a dick move on my part? its also great as a step to access the roof.

Re: latest mod

I don't think it's a dick move. I mean you're just trying to save your bumper from getting hit and I don't blame you for that. You seem to have bad luck though as it keeps happening to you. That and everyone is on their friggin phone in stop and go traffic....well actually anytime driving doesn't even have to be stop and go.

I don't think it's a dick move either. Quite frankly, I think it's hilarious. People should pay better attention. And it's functional so...

Re: latest mod

Not bad as long as you don't go backing into things on your own like walls, fire hydrants, trees..you get the picture.

Mine was low speed tapped in the back a while ago. Minimal damage overall so we just left it as is and put the insurance check towards mods.

I have a Superbumper which is made for low impact collisions.
It costs a bit more than your beavertail but was engineered to absorb rather than slice into the offenders bumper.

Re: latest mod

I have a big 3 ball hitch on back of my 04, some lady in a camary rear ended me at red light and put her grill around my hitch. I inspecting it and only finding a couple new scratches on big ole rusted hitch I drove off.

Lady had bigger problems, yes she apologized and ommitted to not paying attention.

I was also rear ended by a guy who was immediately rear ended by a lady behind him that turned out to be his wife, they both got tickets for following too closely., her car wa
s new also.

And then in my wifes bimmer, so guy in scooter rear ended me at redlight and he ended up on my wifes car trunk, freakin idiots out there. I say do all you can to protect yourself.

I would rather slice into the offenders front end

Good chance that would result in more damage to your own Jeep.

This is my knee capper, it actually served a great purpose on the front of my lifted and locked WJ. On the wktoo it was put on after I got rear ended and simply because it's Florida. It has become invaluable. I figure the trade-off for being the SOB with this in his receiver is the amount of times I've had a limp because of it.
I really like the beaver tail for its coverage and function but in an impact it imparts a lot of leverage.

Now that is menacing looking. How will this serve a great purpose in an impact? I understand the beaver tail and the super plate above, but a hook?

It definitely screams "Don't hit me"
