Leather issue on my 2014 Grand Cherokee Limited

Hello

I have a 2014 Grand Cherokee Limited with black Capri leather. For some reason my driver seat is soft and smooth, the passenger seat and all the other seats are rough and hard. All of my headrests are soft and smooth like my driver seat. Can someone explain what is going on here ? The seats look slighty different (same color though) and feel completely different. And no the driver seat isnt Napa leather (I have another GC with Napa). Was this done on purpose ? Anyone else have this issue ? Can someone else see if they have this issue. The regional warranty guy is coming to look at it, but it wont be for another 3 weeks.

I have the identical issue. I had thought it was b/c my drivers side was used a lot more and I had worn it down nice and smooth?? It's a big difference, like you said.

Where are you located in NC? I'm in CLT and have the same interior.

Yep - I live in Huntersville, I bought it at Keffer but actually taking it to Lake Norman in the morning. The warranty guy that works there called me a litle bit ago and said he wants to see it before the regional guy.

No one else seems to have this issue. My buddy had the exact car and its not like this. My belief is the other seats are all vinyl while the driver is leather. We will see, will keep you updated.

Bought from Keffer as well. My build date is 11/21. What is yours? You know, doesn't keffer try to put that 1st place finish crap on the interior? Maybe that is what did it? Mine was straight off the truck but still may have gotten it?

Mines two weeks old build date of March. Mine also came right off the truck literally watched it. All the jeeps come with urethane on the seats to protect the finish but that doesnt make the seat alot harder than non coated seats. hmmm I dont know , I just feel like my driver seat is going to wear wayyy faster

That's odd with the build dates so far off. And mine was off the truck too.

I totally agree with your observations on this. Pls keep me posted. Good luck.

Well the local warranty guy said the other seats are pleather and he's never even heard of this issue. Jeep doesnt even make pleather seats but he confirmed they are not leather and of course the GC LTD do come standard with Capri leather.

Shocker. Thanks for the update.
And it appears we are the only ones with this issue. It's such a strange coincidence they are both from the same dealer.

I have also used conditioner on all the other seat, but it was no diff.

Do your other seats get used a lot? Mine do not so still wonder if that has anything to do with the ruffness

Only used the passenger seat once until today on the way to the beach. Never conditioned the seats yet since it's so new

So are they going to replace the seats then? How does that work? Pics?

I've never noticed on my vehicle.

He is going to call the regional warranty tech on tuesday and explain to him what's going. He agrees the seats aren't leather so i would think he would have to replace them. I will take some pics later today. The color in the seats is identifical it's just one is smooth while the others are very grainy and stiff and have been like this day one.

Are yours like this or are you just curious?

Re: Leather issue on my 2014 Grand Cherokee Limited

I have this problem in mine but it is a 2012 model. Drivers side RHS is smooth but the passenger is rough. It was like from day one and it is now 2 years old. I never bothered.
