I know this topic has been covered before, but it seems like the threads i'm finding are outdated or cover mostly non-HID equipped vehicles.

I have 2014 Summit with the HID bi-xenon projectors. They are ok, but I am looking to go full - on LED on this truck. I've seen the new Ford Explorers with the LED headlights, and i like that look/brightness. I've also seen many Wranglers/Rubicons with entire LED housings like these and similar, giving off the same light as the Ford Explorers: Raxiom Wrangler LED Headlights J103746 (07-17 Wrangler JK) - Free Shipping

I'm looking for a bulb set/kit that does what I need for my application. I have used VLED's for years in my vehicles, and currently have their brake/turn signals in my Jeep. I do not see the DS3 (i think thats the bulb number i need) listed on their site for LED bulbs. I also read somewhere on here that VLED's LED headlight bulbs aren't all that great, but I am not sure if that's accurate.

Anyone have any experience with putting LED's (that would function as low/high beams) into a Summit or a Jeep already equipped with HID's/Projectors?

Are you looking to change the Kelvin rating or the Lumen rating?

Or are you just wanting to go strictly LED? Because to the best of my knowledge HID (DS3 especially) still provides an optimal Lumen output on OEM vehicles. It would be different if you were upgrading from halogens.

LED is nice but will require new wiring in stock HID set ups.

Why would going to an LED bulb set up be less bright? I very much like how the LED's on the new Explorers light up the road. They look fantastic. What is comparable brightness wise and color temperature wise in HID?

You really can't beat the factory HID setup with an after-market LED. I have a similar conversion bulb (Post 1 link) in my classic and although that are as bright as my Jeep, the light isn't as even, and the cut-off isn't as accurate. Plus HIDs are self-leveling. If you want bluer light, tint your lenses.

The stock HID is too yellowish for my tastes. I want to do this correctly, without tinting my lenses.

You can upgrade your HIDs with 6000k. XenonDepot has upgraded DS3.

Will have to check that out.

I'm planning on SRT LED fog lights before I try to do something with the headlights. With that being said, whats the best option to color match the LED's, and no go with LED headlights, since that seems to be a no-no?

I believe I read somewhere that someone on here got some Phillps HID bulbs that came close to the LED "eye" in the housing of the headlights.

@ARSENAL670 - I would strongly advise against buying an LED bulb to install in your OEM HID headlamps -- they will offer no where near as much light. If you had factory LED headlights then this would a completely different issue, as the headlight is designed to accommodate LED (most importantly the heat dissipation requirements). Heat dissipation is the biggest obstacle in my opinion when dealing with aftermarket LED kits.

If you are looking to improve the light output, I would suggest checking out the Philips D3S X-treme Vision HID bulbs.

Greetings, nice discussion.
I have a 2019 Summit with HID (Bi-xenon). I am looking for brighter bulb than the factory bulb. Any tested bulbs?
One of them claims something like 20% brighter. Keep in mind whatever bulb you put in is powered by the same 35W ballast so the only way one bulb can be brighter then some other is by being more efficient. I replaced my OEM bulbs with the 20% brighter ones, can't tell any difference in brightness at all. Brighter bulbs can't make the optics of the lens and reflector better.

Anyone tried one of these LED options instead of a xenon bulb? Roughly half the price of buying the name brand Osram D3S xenon bulb and hopefully less fragile. Although mine are still working, after 5 years I feel like they have lost some of their light output.
