Basic LEDs can certainly be had for cheap. But the problem is some of these cheap companies put together crap products that will work for a bit of time, but maybe not last. Maybe the light output is poor. Maybe the color is off. Maybe the projection/focus is bad. Typically performance of the lights is always going to be subpar compared to a quality LED company. Not saying it isn't worth finding a deal and using cheap lights. Some people will be perfectly happy with that.

I mostly buy from VLEDs, and even some of their primitive lighting products from back in 2011 still work just fine today. Some of the bulbs I've transferred between 4 different vehicles over the years. It was an investment that lasted. Their new and high end products are unmatched by cheap counterparts. I think it's worth the extra coin for good LEDs right now (especially for exterior bulbs - safety is priceless) - just put them in the next vehicle whenever you trade up... that is until manufacturers wisen up and actually put LEDs in all vehicles.

Just wondering, does this kits bulb color have a white light or a blue/white light? Thanks

Re: LED Interior Lights

HEADS UP: I fixed the lights not coming on individually when the truck is off.

I replaced some of my interior LEDs with updated ones since they were years old. I was curious, so for the 2 footwell lights I purchased LEDs from Diode Dynamics with built-in resistors. They fixed the issue. I don't know if you need 2 - maybe only 1 will work. But replacing both the footwell ensured uniform looks which is a plus. Not overly bright either since it's lighting up a small area, but definitely brighter than stock by a long shot. The lens also works pretty well at diffusing the light. I ended up replacing the overheads and cargo with the more powerful HP5 variant and no complaints there either.

I purchased that exact kit ~3-4 months back and it has held up great. I was pleasantly surprised: the color was nice (not too bright and not too dim), price was low, and they have held up well, with no flickers or dead bulbs. Sure you can spend $100, but for a trial of bulbs that cost $18 total - can't beat it. Would purchase again, no questions asked.

I recently removed them from my '15 Limited and plan to try them out in the new HA maybe this week-end. Will see how they pair up - the rear ceiling lighting by the passengers doors is quite different in the HA.

Tried the $19.99 led bulbs but they also have the blue tinted color I don't like. Sent them back.

Re: LED Interior Lights

Got the interiors switched over tonight on my '16. Did all except the front upper console, just covered them over neatly with electrical tape.

I have some questions on the rear seat lights above rear doors. They appear to be led attached to a approx. 1"X1" circuit board. I haven't heard any mention about this reading this thread. Are the rear seat LEDs new for '16, do we have any options for this setup? Lighting looks great except for these pale hue rear seat LEDs....

Interesting. You removed the plastic lens and saw the LED yourself? If it's directly wired in, then nothing you can easily fix it with. You can always replace, but would require re-wiring a new light there which wouldn't be too hateful, but definitely not plug n play. You could find another small LED board online, cut the factory out (if it has accessible wires going to the circuit board), check the polarity with a multimeter if not readily obvious, and crimp/solder in the new lights to the old wire (even if the new LED boards have a 194 plug attached via wire, just cut the connector off and then you have wire to wire like you need). I know DiodeDynamics has LED boards, maybe some other places do too.

As I said in another thread the 2016 rears are probably the exact same LED chip used on the factory front LED map lights. They can be changed but its not that easy. It requires a very steady hand and some decent soldering skills. I would imagine just front LEDs would look kind of goofy with the rears still yellow stock. You pretty much either have to go all out or leave it stock.
See my thread in the interior section with a DIY on changing out the LEDs. Superbrightleds have the perfect replacement LED for those as well. It's adhesive backed and pre-wired, plus I recommend going with their "natural white" LEDs which are perfect. None of that "hyper" white junk inside a car.

Here is one of my threads. I would imagine the 2016 rear map lights would be a similar job, or possibly easier depending on if they use that same shitty ribbon cable or not:

Thanks for the input, looking at your other post, they most certainly appear to be the same led housing as the front map lights...a bit disappointing...really didn't want to have to go the solder route and tear down the headliner to get at the board.

Nothing can ever be easy...
