Re: LED Light Bar Build Thread - Pic Heavy

I've put in 2 80w bars on the front until I get a nudge bar as well as a couple of amber 16w fog lights inside the front air dam.

Re: LED Light Bar Build Thread - Pic Heavy

Looks really good everyone. I have been getting samples of LED lights and examining them for a business venture I am engaging in. I have one that I will be testing in my WK2 but mounting it the right way may be a challenge.

If some of you could show more detailed images of how you mount them, I would really appreciate it!

Awesome! I was thinking of picking it up but wasn't sure of the quality. Did you place a bead of silicone around the seals? I was told something a little as that would help in the long run.

Did it come with all the mounting brackets?

Yes it came with brackets and the harness and switch. Although the brackets had to be modified to fit in that space. I didn't put any silicone on it, I may the next time I have the bumper cover off. The only thing is it's a really tight fit, I would recommend the 20" version.

Re: LED Light Bar Build Thread - Pic Heavy

Here is how my switches are mounted. Plus I've added two more switches on a third row aligned with the top row since that pic ( think the 5 side of a die/dice)

Did you have to drill for them and cut out the area around.. and do you think it was a hassle and do you think it would work for other switches like rockers?

Re: LED Light Bar Build Thread - Pic Heavy

Just had to drill 3/4" holes the outer square lip covers any imperfections. The hardest part of wiring job is fishing/chasing the wires where you need/want them.

Top left switch is for the top front outer two 6" Rigid Industries SR bars, top right is for top front inner two 6" bars, middle switch is for the two top rear 6" RI SR bars, bottom left is for bottom front two RI Dually D2 (red LEDs mounted in lower air dam) and the bottom right switch is for the eight Off Road Only (ORO) red LED LiteSPOT under chassis rock lights for night runs.ImageUploadedByJeepGarage1413589088.612870.jpgImageUploadedByJeepGarage1413589131.389632.jpgImageUploadedByJeepGarage1413589174.332762.jpgImageUploadedByJeepGarage1413589223.648783.jpg

Sorry no night shots of the red LEDs yet

No switches mounted at all for mine. Mine are wired straight to to the relay using the high beam tap as the trigger. If youre wiring lights to use with High Beam there should not be any reason to need to turn the LED's off - in my view at least!

Same for fog lights.
Maybe some locations have laws on this - I know we used to in Australia, but these were removed a little while back.

Re: LED Light Bar Build Thread - Pic Heavy

US has laws that prohibit having all my lightbars come on when using high beams in other than off-roading situations. Different locations and conditions require different applications.

I prefer to have the ability to adapt to my given needs. I can choose to use as much extra (or minimal no headlights at all and maintain my night vision) lighting as a situation dictates.
