I picked up the same light bar as you. How did you modify the brackets and did you thru-bolt it into the frame or use self tapping? I took the bumper off, but was a little overwhelmed trying to get it centered and figuring how to bolt it in.

I just drilled new holes in the bracket, I think it was about 3/4" higher on the bracket. It's not the ideal solution, but it worked out just fine. I had to use self tappers. The piece I mounted it to is tubular, so you can't get a nut on the inside. Centering was pretty easy. I just measured the mounting spot and marked the center. Then I measured the light bar and marked center, lined them up and mounted.

I would also suggest using a switched + feed for the install.

I don't remember if I updated this thread or not, but, the relay for this light bar started acting up after a few weeks. The light bar would partially turn on while the vehicle was off and just sitting. I ordered anew relay harness from Rigid but have not installed it yet. I'm waiting on a decent weather day to mount my RRO bumper bar and PIAA RF18 light. I'm not sure if the OPT7 will be going back in.

This is a great look.
I also like BigCat's setup as well.

I may try a combination of the two.

Could you guys please send the info of the lights you used?
BigCat, what basket are you using? It's a very cool setup. I love the under carriage lighting. I was thinking of adding some under carriage cameras for rock crawling but never thought of adding lights. Very Nice!

FalconST my rack is a Gobi Stealth pricey but worth it. It replaces the factory rails and mounts flush to the roof line and the basket has two integrated cross rails for attaching mounts for skis, bikes, kayak etc.

My light info is in post #45 above.

Here is what the red Duallys and undercarriage lights look like at night:

What is the brand/model of the light bar you used on the front?

Can you give a link where you got the mount that you have on the front?

Re: LED Light Bar Build Thread - Pic Heavy

Hi BigCat,

The Red Duallys look AWESOME. Great way to light up the trail from underneath to check for clearance, much better than using a flashlight.

The Gobi Stealth Rack also looks nice but Holy Cow! That's way too expensive. I can get a ARB Front Bumper for the same price. The CFO in my house would never approve or budget for either. Guess I'll need to start saving on the side.

I am thinking about designing my own customizable roof rack using 8020. That way I can adjusted the cross beams as needed, add lights anywhere along the sides and use the framing as a cable through as well. It's an extruded 6063 aluminum so it's light weight while also being strong.

Just a thought, I'll post pictures when I get the parts together. :-)

FalconST fortunately my wife enjoys four-wheeling and modifying our Jeeps and Ram 1500 as much as I do so I'm lucky there.

Definitely post pics of your rack build as it progresses.

I've used these in the past for halogen off road lights. I assume they'll work with these LED set ups as well. No need to run wires through the wall to the interior. Also, if you're outside and you need the light, you can use the remote to turn them on . I just velcro'd my remote to the dash.
There's a 15 amp version as well which is what I used.

An interesting idea, I like it. When driving do you also use the remote to power the lights, or is there a mounted switch for them?
