Re: LED Light Bar Build Thread - Pic Heavy

You can shift the supports to the rear of the panel mounts. This tgen gives more frontal gap to the grill

The lights were around AU$100 and the materials were leftover garage supplies (25mm aluminium square tube and 3mm plate secured with steel rivets). The lights were black and provided a more hidden appearance. The bracket was also painted black to create the stealth look.

The bar can be placed behind the support rods as Nicjak suggested but I didn't, to allow more airflow to the radiator. These lights were short enough to allow this (65mm).

Re: LED Light Bar Build Thread - Pic Heavy

Love your work!
The Jeep HID low beam is fabulous, the high beam very ordinary, without add-ons.

I did the same thing many years ago (in the '70's) with a pair of Cibie Super Oscars behind the grille on my V8 Torana. I had to leave the backs off the lights, mounting just the chrome frame and reflector with multiple brackets, but it worked beautifully.
"Stealthy" lights are always better than ones out front, both for looks and to avoid attracting the attention of ferals who want cheap (free!) lights.

Q. How did you aim them?

(My LED light bar and spots are on my 'roo bar, pretty ugly, though very bright.)

Cheers

Re: LED Light Bar Build Thread - Pic Heavy

The aim was achieved by putting the car on level ground and using a square/level to aim the lights horizontally. Unfortunately, I found the radiator support brackets were slightly off right-angle and a little tweeking was required.

The ideal way would be to aim the lights somewhere isolated at night without the facia mounted.

Re: LED Light Bar Build Thread - Pic Heavy

sorry you miss interpreted my comment, i removed the two rodded supports and simply mounted them to the rear of the captive nuts, then attached my angle to the rods this allowed more frontal clearance to the grill.

Finally found the time to install my 20" light bar. Here's a pic. I also install xtreme HID's for the fogs.

Light bar is super bright...love it.

Unfortunately, when trying to mount the bar to the frame of the Jeep I was unable to get it bolted in. I used self tapping screws into a 1/8" pilot hole and the screw got so hot and they melted.

Did an off brand 20" curved. There are not a lot of those available, so options were limited. Found it on amazon

Not an auto elec however think this could work also. Just have to cap the second lead. It should be sufficient. I'm looking to mount something like this on the bullbar.
