LED Question

Does anyone know if the LED lights over the license plate that are in the 2014+ Overlands fit in the 2011-13 models? Looking at the owners manuals that I see online makes me think so.

Re: LED Question

You can buy the correct bulb (194) from XenonDepot in LED format

194 Philips LED Bulb | T10 Philips LED bulb | LED Wedge bulb | 2821 LED bulb

Re: LED Question

How do those compare to OEM? I don't want to be obnoxiously bright, OEM is plenty bright.

They will be whiter and brighter than OEM. But nothing ridiculous.

Re: LED Question

You can easier walk into any pep boys or Advance Auto and buy the Phillips or sylvania 194 LED and pop them in while at the store. They run $20ish for the pair. If you do site to store on Advance you can get a code for 30% off. 20off for pepe boys ..I'm very happy with the added light. No anything but the bulb is needed.

Re: LED Question

Personally I'd go with a known commodity. In the back of most pepe boys by the headlamps and such they sell the Phillips bulbs too, I think you'll have better luck with them in an exterior location.

Re: LED Question

If the package doesn't say 'CAN-BUS' compatible, be prepared to take them back...

I bought some Pilot 194 LED bulbs to use in the interior light positions. They were not CAN-BUS compatible and failed to work.

And yes I made sure to try pulling them out and rotating them 180 degrees to check polarity.

They usually would light up once and then subsequent attempts would not light up. I tried them in both the front overhead lights and the rear side passenger lights.

I bought CAN-BUS compatible lights from Autolumination for my license plate lights and lift-gate cargo lights and they have been working flawlessly for over 6 months.
