There's also anecdotal evidence showing that the brighter lights are more effective at capturing the attention of drivers.

Kias are actually turning into one of the higher quality brands. They're vastly better materials and better made than the crap GM has been hocking, and they've got better quality than a good number of Chrysler products. The Korean manufacturers have made leaps and bounds in the past decade, they're quite easily as high of quality as the Japanese brands now.

FWIW, a friend at work has a Kia Sportage SX (with LED taillights), and they are HUGELY brighter in the day than my taillights. they're very clear and easy to see that they're on, even with sun glare and such. They look really sharp too.

I know about the LED bulbs, but frankly those are a cop out to me. I'd much rather have proper LED taillights.

Re: LED Replacement Taillights

I know this is will revive a near-dead thread but with the release of the 14's there was more hope for an aftermarket solution.

I e-mailed taillight solutions with that approach in mind and this was the response:

The only plans we have is to offer LED bulb upgrades like we currently have. We will not be manufacturing any kind of replacement LED assemblies for the taillights.
