LED Replacement Taillights

It's bad enough that Jeep/Chrysler didn't see fit to include these as standard on their top of the line vehicles (and now several cheaper vehicles have them...), but why is it that nobody makes LED taillights for the WK2? I really want a nice set of attractive, OEM looking LED taillights, but they just don't exist.

I know people have added LED bulbs and all that jazz, but IMO it doesn't look as nice, and as vehicle as nice as the WK2 deserves a nice set of taillights.

Does anyone know of any that are coming out, or that are already out and have just eluded me so far?

Re: LED Replacement Taillights

I havent heard of anything unfortunately, but my plans are to wait and see if the 2014 LED tail lights will be able to work on the earlier years. I would assume they will bolt on just fine because I doubt Chrysler is changing any sheet metal on the mid-cycle refresh. Just hope there isnt anything fancy about its electronics so that getting them to work right will be easy too.

I to am a little upset that Chryslers high end vehicle doesnt have any of those fancy things, but yet a little Jeep Compass has LED tails?!? My wifes 2006 Honda Accord has LED tail lights for gods sake haha. So im just hoping that the 2014 tail lights and head lights will work for us 2011-2013 guys.

Re: LED Replacement Taillights

I actually like the current tail lights.

An LED version might be nicer but I'd have to look at them in person to see.

Have you checked out what Taillight Solutions is offering in LED Tail Light upgrades?

Re: LED Replacement Taillights

^^^ all they offer are replacement LED bulbs for the WK2 they do not make any special replacement LED housings yet. And they are pretty expensive as well considering there are places like VLEDs.com or superbrightleds.com that have the same or better bulbs for way cheaper.

Agreed, I've no interest in a cheesy half cocked replacement bulb. I want a real set of LED taillights.

I made a set for a previous car, but I'm in no way wanting to do that again.

Re: LED Replacement Taillights

If it turns out the 2014 LED tail lights will not be compatible with the 2013 and earlier models I really hope someone comes out with a quality LED tail lamp assembly. I wonder if tail light solutions is working on one?
If they are all I ask is that it looks like a nice OEM unit and not all chrome that looks like an aftermarket altezza light lol.

As of now im praying the 2014 tails and headlights will be compatible with the earlier ones. I still just dont understand why my 40K Overland with options that even some 60+K SUV's dont have, doesnt have some of the basic things that even new Kia's have had for years now such as LED tails, LED DRL lights. Or how did the Jeep engineers say hey lets put LED's on our little compass, but keep making our flagship vehicle last to get all the updates. Weird
Maybe because they know people like me will want to trade for a 2014 Overland then ;-)

Re: LED Replacement Taillights

I contacted Eagle Eyes inquiring about them creating replacements. I figure the more people that email them, the faster they will get to work on them. They usually make nice OEM looking replacements.

Literally, this is the only complaint I have about this vehicle. I don't mind the lack of LED DRLs, but the lack of LED taillights is a safety issue.

Re: LED Replacement Taillights

Still waiting.

It pisses me off that the Kia Sportage has like 5 different types available for it, but there are exactly 0 for the WK2.

You can put lipstick on a pig, but it is still a pig (or KIA in this instance). Some people equate LED lights to quality, kind of like how some crappy home builders can lure potential buyers into their shoddy houses with granite and stainless appliances.
