I'm just going to have 35% film added all around which will probably make the rears darker than 15% VLT but as long as the fronts aren't too dark it's okay.

If you want to keep the rears the same darkness you can get clear tint film to add heat and UV resistance.

Thanks Studgun. I might end up doing 40% on the rear and rear sides and then 30% on the front side windows. I hate feeling my skin bake when I'm driving.

Or who knows. Maybe 30% all around wound't look to bad. That would give the look that the front sides are indeed lighter than the rear right? With the rear windows died + 30% tint and the front side windows nothing + 30% tint. the rear should look darker.

Re: Lets talk about window tint

I am curious to how much UV is filtered from the pano sunroof? I usually leave the screen open and my 2 yr old daughter loves it and demands that it stay open when she is in the Jeep.

Perhaps, I should have a clear UV protection film applied. Is there anything like that?

Cheers,
-A

Yes there is such thing as clear protection, and if they don't make it for sunroofs, then I would imagine the installation shop could order a sheet and cut it out to spec. I would imagine that there is tint for sunroofs though

My tint guy strongly recommends not to tint the sunroof as the build up latent heat can cause the glass to shatter. I got 35% put over the factory tints making them around 5% I believe and 20% on the fronts which, whilst being slightly below Australian allowable 35%, look GREAT, improve privacy and do not affect night time driving.

This!!! Google shattered tinted sunroofs. It happens all too much.

Yea, Llumar has an 80% called Air Blue. Pretty much clear.

Re: Lets talk about window tint

Yea, its really funny that almost every thread that someone makes, they are pissed and think it's a flaw from the factory. Then everyone posts and says "thank god for the window tint keeping the glass from falling in". When in reality, about 99% of the time, it's the tint that caused the pane to shatter in the first place...

Re: Lets talk about window tint

Just got a 2011 GC V8 and love it! First line item is tinting for me. Great tips on this site! Does anyone know if there are certain tints to avoid in order to not have that splotchy vision when wearing polarized sunglasses? Thanks!
