Lets talk Roof Racks and Cross Bars

Gentlemen -

Im looking to take my WK2 in a month or so to the mountains for some skiing. My last cars (Lex GX470 and Toyo Land Cruiser) both had cross bars and installing a ski adapter was a walk in the park.

Looking at the WK2 it looks like I need cross bars and a Ski attachment. Is this true? Does anyone make a setup that would allow me to avoid have to buy both the cross bars and ski attachement?

Im interested in hearing your opinions, and those that put ski's on the roof what is your setup?

Thanks!

Re: Lets talk Roof Racks and Cross Bars

There's lots of discussion on this. Thule , Yakima , mopar cross bars etc... Look around in the how to sub forum. I'd post some links but its a pita from my phone.

On a side note. Did ya ever get a video of he exhaust from the outside ? Myself and others I'm sure are very interested.

Re: Lets talk Roof Racks and Cross Bars

There have been quite a few recent discussions.

Basically you need cross bars, which are a Thule design and most of the Thule stuff will attach to it. Jeep will sell you the bars and a setup in their accessories catalog. There are mopar dealers that will discount them, justforjeeps for one (I think they are a sponsor). Folks have also been getting no name bars and fittings off eBay, imported from the China's factories but without Jeep or Thule stickers.

Yakima Car Racks, Bike Racks, Roof Racks for Skis, Cargo & Kayaks
REI

I like thule the best of all of them but that is my opinion. They all have fit guides...
