I've seen you can pop off the lower Valance but does that chrome trim piece come off easily and I also want to change the fog surround can that be done more easily when the lower Valance is popped off or do I need to pop off the whole front end of the truck.
I believe bc one is paint and one is vinyl, it does appear that way in a photo. In person you cannot tell a difference, no matter how long you stare. Could not be more pleased.
It is not hard to replace the chrome, just a lot of clips. I went the other way and took the black off and installed the chrome piece. It took about and hour, maybe an hour and a half to do the whole job, including taking off the lower bumper.
Bob, So you have to take off the lower clip then work the chrome off? Any particular place to start? Also, Can I get to the fog chrome surtrounds when the lower clip is off to replace with black? Has anyone done it this way?
Was it difficult to wrap? This seems to be my only option. I don't know why it's sold "unpainted" and not sold in gloss black. No point in buying one just to have painted when I can just wrap the one I already have.
You have to remove the lower bumper first, once you flip it over you'll see a ton of clips that need to be released to get the chrome piece off. You also have to remove the black plastic piece that's in the center of the chrome. I say start on the outer edges and work inward, it'll help keep the clips from wanting to re-engage.
For the fog lights you can do it that way or, since you're already doing work to the front bumper, just remove the entire bumper. That way you'll get easy access to the back of the fog light housing to remove it. I'm pretty sure you have to take the whole housing out to get the chrome ring off.
Sorry if this has been answered.. So the trim comes in textured black for like $60 i just don't know what textured black looks like does anyone have any pics as its impossible to find anywhere..
The lower trim pieces feel "rough" to the touch, it's not a lot of texture but it's noticeable...not like the smooth paintable ones. I painted all mine with SEM Trim black to darken it up a bit, over time it turns a greyish color which I wasn't too fond of.
