Making the headliner "black"
Hello Guys...
I have always hated grey/clear headliners in cars... I just love the feel of been enclosed in a vehicle with a black headliner and pillars....
Do you guys know how easy or hard is to make the headliner of the jeep black including the pano sunroof courtain...
Let me know if you have any ideas thanks!

Re: Making the headliner "black"
Although I agree that the black headliners and pillars look the best, my M3 had them. I dont think it would be worth the hassle to try to dye them or have Black ones made. A good bodyshop or upholstery shop would probably be able to give you a good idea though.

Re: Making the headliner "black"
You can wrap the headliner with some sort of a black fabric (suede is common), and the trim pieces you would likely want to plastidip. The pano roof cover would likely have to be dyed.
It would get VERY dark inside there though. They go with light colored top sections because it brightens the interior up and makes it feel larger and more spacious. You also may find the cops pulling you over thinking you have too dark of tint as well, as it will darken the interior such that the windows appear darker.

Re: Making the headliner "black"
I wrapped the headliner, pillars, door cards and dash (plus other bits) in my WJ. It's fairly easy to do. I used grey Alcantara, but any microfibre suede will do.

I saw pics of a WK2 SRT8 with this done. Don't remember if it was here or the red site.

Re: Making the headliner "black"
Scott's right we did the CFR a month or two ago. Black oem visors, black oem pull handles, black pillars black sunroof and suede headliner. We are also doing all the silver black crystal pearl to match the exterior looks like a different truck just can't show it at this point sorry. Total PIA not an easy job and I can honestly say not looking forward to doing it agin now that I have it all figured out it should be easier next go round.

Yeah some pics here; Alcantara dash...done
Alcantara headliner, finished...well almost
Alcantara madness!!!
Alcantara A pillars...pics
Even more Alcantara!
I also did some videos, that you may find useful;
Alcantara - How To Video
Certain pieces are easier than others. Pillars for example are fairly straight forward, the dash on the other hand was a total b***h!!!!! I swore like I never knew I could But as Chad says, once you've done it, it is easier the next time round, should you be able to face it!
You may want to invest in a steamer to help stretch the fabric.

Re: Making the headliner "black"
I just got a quote from an upholstery shop to do the entire headliner and pillars in black suede for $750. I haven't checked anywhere else yet.

So let me get this right... oem visors, pull handles and pillars can be had from our dealer already in black? so we just replace this and basically the only thing left is the headliner and pano roof to paint or cover in black fabric... is this correct?
do you have part number of the oem black parts?
