Matte cleared my grille and rear brow

Hey all. I had some matte clear plasti dip laying around the garage so I decided to see how it looks on chrome. Turns out it looks pretty sweet. Gives it a brushed aluminum look. I personally am not a fan of chrome at all so I think I will be continuing this treatment on my window trim and roof rails. This was pretty much a test. But I'm really pleased on how it came out.. Pics aren't great. I did it at night and only took a picture of the final product today at work. Anyway. Let me know what you think.
Masking off (too lazy to r&i)

Final product...

I'll take some more pics and post them tomorrow.

Looks really good! Reminds me of the satin chrome on my Fat Boy Lo.

Re: Matte cleared my grille and rear brow

Ah yes! another Harley guy... I have a '10 Denim black FLHX, I want to do this to whatever is left of the chrome on it, like the rocker boxes, primary and pipes, but I doubt it will hold up to the heat, especially from the pipes... But it will be a perfect compliment to the flat black paint...

Re: Matte cleared my grille and rear brow

Looks pretty good I like it! Whats that bright colored thing behind your lower grill?

I like plasti dip, but the only thing is it over sprays like crazy!!! I tried dipping one thing on my Jeep and did a LOT of covering and still had over spray all over my Jeep....and my wifes car which was on the other side of the garage. Because of this it makes me not want to use the stuff again. I ended up having to clay bar and wax both my Jeep and my wifes Accord.

Hmm. The only time I had a lot of overspray with Plasti dip is when I reduced it an sprayed it through my HVLP Sata jet gun... With the can its not so bad. Just use short controlled sprays. Anyway. Thanks for the kind words. I'm very pleased with it. More pics to come when the rain stops here in NYC.

Oh. And that bright colored thing behind the lower grille is an LED light bar. I mounted it behind there because other than the roof. There really is no place else. Un aimed here's what it looks like.

Re: Matte cleared my grille and rear brow

What light bar is that? Install info? That matte clear is pretty cool. Might be worth using to spray on my srt8 reps for the winter.

I love that idea, have been serching for a place to put one. Do you have any details on how you mounted it? did you need to take off the front and such?

I bought the light from DDMTUNING.com. It's really well made and pretty rugged.. The install was somewhat involved. Especially since my friend who helped me is an electrical engineer... Needless to say I let him handle the wiring.. Anyway. Here's a few pics if the process
Lower cover off

Light mounted on lower removable center section

Same. Just flipped view

Frontal center view...
The light fits perfectly height wise once the lower section of the bumper is reinstalled. The top of the light butts up against the bumper reinforcement just perfectly so it doesn't shake around on the somewhat flimsy plastic lower portion. Thus pretty much it in a nutshell.

Thanks for the pics. Do you have it wired to a separate switch? If not, how do you have the light bar set to come on?

Looks very good. That really changed the look.

Bummer, I thought maybe that was an intercooler behind your lower grille...
