Re: Mineral Gray splotchy-ness

I have some slight blochyness on my 2012 GC in Mineral Grey. The worst of it was on the leading edge and front of the hood. When I had my 3M Clear Bra installed, it took care of that area. The rest of the car is not that bad, although I have found a few dropouts (small specs) in the paint - again not a big deal. It appears to be getting better with time, and clay-barring and polishing the GC myself made a huge improvement. Here is a link to the TSB, which essentially is having your dealer do a buff & polish job:

By the way, everyone needs to give wk2jeeps.com and Milous a HUGE atta-boy for the site, accurate information and timely updates. I know my dealer was originally skeptical when I supply copies of TSB's when I bring my GC in for service. But they now know that the information is accurate and as good or better than the updates they get.

Re: Mineral Gray splotchy-ness

For what it’s worth, my 2011 Bright Silver GC also has splotchy paint. My ’04 Bright Silver GC had the same issue. When I first noticed it on my ’04 I checked out a couple of silver '03 & '04 Mercedes in the parking lot at work. Yep, they were splotchy too. Not sure what the Germans (and now Italians) are up to, but painting cars is definitely not their forte’.
