Mirror Trim Cap

Has anybody found a source for the mirror covers besides buying the entire mirror?

I had mine wrapped from a local shop, and it looks like one of the clips broke during the removal or installation and the cap fell off. They were willing to buy a new mirror ($600) to make it right, but I want to try and help them out a little if I can.

I found a cheap aftermarket mirror for $100 without the extra features (blind spot, etc) and was thinking about ordering that, and just taking the cap from that. I'm just wondering if the quality of the trim cap would be different.

Re: Mirror Trim Cap

Don't know if this helps in your case, but when I damaged my driver side mirror, I bought this

2011-2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee Mirror - Action Crash CH1320330 - Left - Driver Side - PartsGeek.com

It comes with a gloss black cap that can be painted (I plastidipped mine). The shop might be willing to have it painted for you since it's a small item. Very inexpensive

It's darn near impossible to find just the caps.

There are 5 or 6 tabs/clips that hold it on and missing one won't cause it to fall off. Was it one of the lower inside ones? Those are a real pita to get to. I bought a cheap aftermarket set to have the caps color matched and broke one off. There hasn't been any issue with it. In fact, the could probably glue it if they have some 2-part epoxy.

If the shop is willing to pay to replace it you'll be fine going with a cheap aftermarket one like this - https://www.amazon.com/Crash-Parts-P.../dp/B01HH0KIUW

Being Amazon if there are any issues just return it. The aftermarket ones I bought fit perfectly.

Re: Mirror Trim Cap

I took off the chrome caps, then purchased 2 OEM Laredo Mirrors with Crystal Granite Caps. Switched out the caps, then sold the Laredo Mirrors with chrome caps on E-Bay. After selling these, my net cost was about $50.00

If you want just the caps you can get these mopar chrome ones, might be better quality than some of the knock offs? If the shop is at fault I would at least replace with as close to OEM as possible. With these if you decide later on that you don't like the wrap you will still have matching chrome caps. These are the actual caps not the cheap chrome covers, at least that what they say in the reviews. The OEM cabs need to be removed and replaced with these.

I did the same thing with my Granite Overland.

You can find the Laredo mirrors are about $300 if you shop around.

Not sure if you are still looking for them, but I found them on Amazon of all places today. https://www.amazon.com/Trim-Illusion...e+Mirror+Cover

Going to order them for the $55 and see if they're the real deal...

The OP said covers but he meant the replacement cap that snaps in to the OEM holes.

The link you posted if for covers, they completely cover the OEM mirror cap. If the OP was missing his cap the cover wouldn't have anything to tape to, or it wouldn't sit flush.

Do a search of reviews for those covers, most members say they don't completely cover all the chrome around the edges.

Re: Mirror Trim Cap

Buy a set of chrome caps and have them painted.

Maybe I should start a mirror cap exchange. I prep them primer them then ship them back to you.

maybe if some one has a media blaster they can do the exhange.

Re: Mirror Trim Cap

To clarify...I got my situation take note care of, but what I was looking for was the actual piece that is part of the mirror. All of the caps that I found for sale were just stick ons that go over the existing caps.
