Mods with a lease!

Curious what's on or off limits when it comes to mods with a lease. I'm on my first lease with Jeep ("14 Altitude) and I've tinted the windows and painted the break calipers red. I feel like I want to do something else but not sure yet and not sure if I should, due to it being a lease.

Thanks

Re: Mods with a lease!

Personally, I would be leery of doing anything that would be deemed "permanent" on a lease vehicle since you don't actually own it. Plasti-dip and/or vinyl instead of paint, for example. Don't worry about the brake calipers and window tint. If you want to do special wheels and tires, great, but keep the OEM for when you turn it in. Etc.

I would say even the painted calipers are risky with a lease...

Suspect paint that looks like stock is available for returning it.
Window tint isn't that hard to remove.

But, a lot depends on who does the return inspection as pretty much anything that cannot be returned to absolute stock--like the man said above--can cost you money.

... unless you want to convert to purchase at the end of the lease, but arguments such as "Gee, the prior driver painted the calipers a goofy looking red, so how much discount..." may be a bit weaker.

Re: Mods with a lease!

mines a 15' laredo lease. ive plasti dipped the wheels and emblems and plan to do more, tinted the windows, installed a sound system and installed the rear fog lights. all reversible and able to convert back to stock although im 90% sure im going to buy the car when my lease is up cuz i love it soo much but that 10% of me wants to trade it in for a better package, maybe limited, altitude, overland or if i can, an SRT.

14 JGC Summit
Dipped all the chrome
Borla 1 1/4" wheels spacer
K&N cold air intake
De-badge some emblems.
Caliper covers.
That's probably all I would do on a lease.
You can remove and add the badges when it goes back.
I had a 2011 Dugango RT and they told me to leave it just the way I had it. Witch was similar to this.
