Re: Mopar Rear fog LIghts

ok that makes sense. the KIT gives you the lamps you need to replace reflectors.

Re: Mopar Rear fog LIghts

In aust you press the headlight switch once for front, again for rear, again to turn off rear, again to turn off front.... strange but true, also states that if no front fogs pressing once will turn on rear fogs.... face of rotary switch has front/rear fog light symbol printed on it, similar to the indicator lights on the dash, there's another kettle of fish....

Re: Mopar Rear fog LIghts

Until someone has installed and reported on the rear fog lights, here's what I would like:

- buy the kit as mentioned in previous posts;
- buy a rocker switch for the interior switch panel (possibly the heated steering wheel as long as it can handle the current) and install in one of the blanks;
- connect the lights to the battery directly (with the appropriate fuse);
- have the wiring run to the new switch and wire it to control ON/OFF.

I would like more lighting when backing up and although the above may be simplistic, and may not be achievable - I'd like that setup.

Any electrical gurus comment on this?

With the Australian switch it looks like the fronts are always on with the rears. As with the US models, the Canadian models have the red reflectors in the rear bumper.

Well I'm not a guru but an electrician none the less, thats the easiest way to do it, just wire them independantly of everything else, no hassles that way, only thing is I'd have the switch control a relay that then switches the lights. Yes, in aust the fronts have to be on before switching the rears....

Re: Mopar Rear fog LIghts

Personally I thoink you guys are going to a lot of trouble for a foglight.
In Australia we can run either front or rears or both foglights when we are pushing the foglight button. It is a pet hate of mine seeing people driving in perfect weather with a rear foglight blazing away.

Just a small point, Rears cannot be switched on their own.... It doesn't matter to me but these lights seem very important to others, I've only turned mine on to see if they worked....

Re: Mopar Rear fog LIghts

I hope the kit allows the rear fogs to come on with the tail lights and light up with the brake lights. To have them as actual fog lights so that you can see better when backing up, makes them relatively useless in a cost over use situation. I see all the SRT8 guys running them as markers and brakes and it is visually the best lighting mod out there IMO.

So I believe to do this it is not necessary to worry about the function of the current fog light switch. Nor do you need to add another switch so the dash. Instead we just need a plug and play harness that plugs into the tail light system. Activation would be as simple as turning your headlights on. I always thought this was the intended purpose of these lights.

rear fog lights are not used "so that you can see better when backing up"; they are used for rear visibility of approaching vehicles (behind you) in heavy fog.

also, break = break a window; brake = automotive stopping device.

Exactly my point.....I have seen a few posts from people looking for better visibility when backing up. To my knowledge this is not the intention of the kit.

also, I was aware of the improper spelling but forgot to change it...thanks for the heads up "teach"

Ordered mine today. Plan a modified installation for rear warning.
