Mopar Rock Rail Flag Bolts

For those of you that installed your rock rails yourself, did your flag bolts come with pressed notched sections so they don't spin when tightening them. See first photo depicting parts list. Mine just came totally flat and are crap. Got 4 out of the 6 done up but can't get the other 2. See second photo. Flag bolts are the 5 on top middle of photo.

Have contacted MoparAmerica where I bought them and they have said Mopar say the rock rails only fit 11-13 WK's not 14-15 like mine (mines 15 export). Which I call BS. The sills are exactly the same with the same holes and everything. Please let me know which flag bolts you received and what year WK2 you have. Even a photo of the pressed notch ones if possible so I can hit Mopar up again.

Thanks in advance
Kyle

2015 GC, I got my set used but were brand new still in box. My flag bolts were the same as yours. I welded four little nubs on my, to prevent from spinning.

Ya, I used some JB Weld on mine, to get them in place and it worked just fine. Was a definite pain, with the flag bolts like the way they were. A little innovation worked though

Re: Mopar Rock Rail Flag Bolts

I just got my set of rails and have the same bolts as the OP's.

Any issues with using these w/o the anti-spin nubs? I was thinking of something similar as schandna01 with a dab of glue or jb to hold them in place.

Anyone else do the install with these type flag bolts?

TIA

Re: Mopar Rock Rail Flag Bolts

I ended up getting a full new set of bolts sent to me with 4 out of the 6 correct flag bolts, but haven't been bothered replacing them. I ended up using my rattle gun and 4 of the six bolts done up good. I got sick of the other 2 and just left them.

Re: Mopar Rock Rail Flag Bolts

I just fitted the old part number (Non-AB on the end) to my 2015 Altitude and they fit and installed fine. Funny thing is, all 6 of my flag bolts had the 'anti-rotation' nubs on them. I'd imagine hitting them with an impact gun will tighten them up enough as long as the threads on the bolt and nut are clean.

Re: Mopar Rock Rail Flag Bolts

Any issues with the length of these flag bolts? They look shorter than the ones with the nubs.

Since the rails are discontinued, I'm not holding out hope of getting a replacement set. Though I did see a suggestion about using some stainless steel screws to prevent rotation that I'll try.
