Re: MOPAR Rock Rails Installed - Picture Laden

Alright guys, the dealer spent 12 hours today installing the Rock Rails. I'm picking the Jeep up tomorrow morning and will post pictures here when I get home.

Re: MOPAR Rock Rails Installed - Picture Laden

Twelve hours! My dealer told me it would take about four when they come in. They are supposed to be in next week and my wife will be in a seminar in Florida for the week. May have to rent a car just to get home and back unless I can figure out how to drive two vehicles over and back at the same time by myself.

Re: MOPAR Rock Rails Installed - Picture Laden

This is definitely a accessory that the dealer should be installing , The writers really have no idea on hove long this will take ,the book says something like 2.5 hrs , NO WAY! ,, But they will do a great job. very pleased with mine and worth the money ,, Good Luck!!

They thought it would take ~4 hours . They said they had trouble because it was the first time they have installed them on a 2014.

I'm at the dealer right now and the rails look really good. I'll get pictures soon.

Edit: I will get pictures up tomorrow for sure. I saw busier than anticipated today.

Why, a number of us have installed them ourselves? It's a hard job. I would hate to think what a mess a dealer would make of it. It took me 2 days on my own but I wasn't in any hurry and I wanted it done right. It's not something that just pops in. It takes some pushing and shoving.

Re: MOPAR Rock Rails Installed - Picture Laden

Standard Ride Height:

Off-Road II:

First Impressions:
Honestly, I am not thrilled with the look. As you can see, they don't fit perfectly and don't really "blend" with the vehicle. It also costed $1500 for everything (rails, shipping, install), which is not cheap. If I did a ton of off-roading, I'm sure my opinion would be different, but there is not a lot of off-roading in my area. If I had to do it all over again, I probably wouldn't. I will leave them on for a few months, and if I still don't like them, I will take them off. I still have the original trim that was taken off, so it should be fairly easy and cheap to undo.

I wonder if you would have liked the trailhawk one better. I am saving up for the rails, just spent money on the skids.

The rock rails look great. Why did you even get them if you don't do any off roading?

Re: MOPAR Rock Rails Installed - Picture Laden

I do off-road a few times a year, just not that often. I am planning on driving the Jeep cross country this year to my house in AZ and doing some off-roading there, as well as off-roading at a few places on the way. Now that I have the rock rails, I'm going to do some more extreme stuff than I would have if I did not have them. The look is growing on me by the minute, so I will most likely keep them on.

I will be installing full skid plates at some point before mid-June, and will probably buy a set of 18" wheels for off-road use (Trailhawk II take-offs if the THII ever comes out).
