Mud and hooks

1 Mud: Driving around today on less then perfect roads are sure doing a number on the body panel just infront of my rear tires. It has a protective film but if I do get mud flaps will it help reduce this constant sand blasting of that section? I'm starting to see the effects of it already.

2 Hooks: I can't figure out for the life of me what these two hooks are for. There's 2 on each side. The single one closer to the door is for the cargo net but these two baffle me. Seems like it could support a table of some kind.

Sorry about the sideways picture. They were orientated correctly before I uploaded them.

Re: Mud and hooks

I use those hooks to secure grocery bags or duffle bags...anything that has a handle really. Keeps things from sliding around. Not sure if that's the intent but it works!

Here is what I bought to hold groceries & loose items in the back! It works great!

From Amazon.com: Online Shopping for Electronics, Apparel, Computers, Books, DVDs & more Mopar 82208566 OEM Collapsible Cargo Tote with Jeep Logo by Mopar

It was only $31.00 and it is sturdy, folds flat, and holds a lot of stuff.

Re: Mud and hooks

It took me two years before I found out what the hooks were for. I use them occasionally. Good for bags holding bottles of soda so they don't roll around.

Re: Mud and hooks

Without this forum it would probably take me a couple of years as well

So would a set of mudflaps reduce the damage being done to the rear outer fender?

I'm thinking it cant hurt.

That's a cool rig Hemi. I might just pick one up.

Thanks. Yeh, for that price, how can ya go wrong, eh?
I have mud flaps front & rear and they really DO make a difference!

Re: Mud and hooks

Did you pick them up from a dealer Hemi? Seems to me we talked about this in another thread

I seem to recall that you mentioned something about having to purchase a pop rivit tool or something ??

Re: Mud and hooks

I use the two on the sub side to support two USB cables that go from an adapter in the 12v port "back there" to the back seat when we are traveling. That allows the teens to have power for devices so they don't fight over the 120v outlet in the center console....

Gravity, sorry, I meant to get back to you with some photos of those mud flaps. My bad . . . After looking at the front flaps, I realized you don't necessarily need a rivet tool if you don't want to. There IS 1 pop rivet you can put in on each side (supplied with the front flaps) but I chose not to. It is very stable without it so I didn't want to drill a hole into the sheet metal just to install it. The rear flaps were already installed from the dealer so don't know anything about that install. The rears have the Jeep logo but the fronts do not. I bought the fronts from Courtesy Chrysler for $48.
Here are a few shots of the front mud flaps. They make a huge difference!

Re: Mud and hooks

I started using those hooks the day I opened the hatch, and a gallon of milk came bouncing out, and broke on the garage floor. Milk is now always bagged, and hooked.

The splash guards will help some, and they are so unsightly IMO. I had them on mine for about a year, and then removed them. It looks so much cleaner w/o them. The Mopar ones need to be smaller, and less square -- like the previous gen Aspen/Durango guards. I liked them.
