Mud Flaps

How many people have/use mud flaps? Are they only if you're going off-road? Will they keep your paint from getting chipped? I've never had mud flaps and never had my paint chip on either of the two SUVs that I've had over the last 11 years.

Just thought I would do a quick check.

Re: Mud Flaps

I have hem and yes they keep stone and spray from covering the sides of the vehicle, especially when turning. They look good on the vehicle in my opinion as well as being functional.

Re: Mud Flaps

I do not have them now, but have had them in the past. I have not had a problem with stone chips on this vehicle. Parking lot chips are my problem. I am sure they can only help, but I do not find them attractive and snow packs up more with them in my experinece.

I have them on also and I will agree with tbechtel that they do help in keeping the body panels protected.

As for going off-road I took them off when I made my trip at to Utah this past May for some good off roading. I am sure I would have damaged them or torn them off had I left them on.

Ditto. We've never had mudflaps before, but this was a good move. No serious offroading yet, but if one got lost or busted it's easy to replace.

Re: Mud Flaps

Always had and have flaps on the Grand models. The factory units look, fit good and work extremely well. Get them, you won't be disappointed, street or gravel roads.

Re: Mud Flaps

anyone just have it at the front only to protect the sides and not worry at the rear?

I took these just now, and because it's night they may not help you all that much. However I found them very easy to install (even the right rear) and I kind of like the way they look. I reduced one of them to a B&W picture as it may help a bit. If I remember tomorrow I'll take some better pictures in the daytime.

Re: Mud Flaps

Gotta have them in our environment, lots of unpaved roads, snow etc, will cake the lower sides of the car without the mud flaps. The mopar units fit very well.

Re: Mud Flaps

All the Oz spec models come with them. I think they are a requirement for 4x4 cars here as everyone seems to have mudflaps as standard. They seem to work as I have no stone chips down the side.
