Re: Mud Flaps on 2014

Email today from Husky Engineering Dept re their development of new mud flaps for the 2014 GC summit:

"They are still in the prototyping stage right now. We had some other applications that got added and they pushed the Summit back a few weeks but after the next test fit they should be ready to start the mold."

I drive on gravel road multiple times every week, so this delay is a pain. Has anyone found a satisfactory fit for the summit with a currently available product?

Re: Mud Flaps on 2014

I am in the same boat. Waiting on mud flaps for my Summit as well. Shocks me Jeep/Chrysler never made a version for their two top dollar trims? Kinda stupid... Wish they were color matched to the painted rocker trim as well. Would be a nice touch to the Summit and SRT models.

Just got response back from Husky today 7-9-2014. ETA for Summit mud guards 6-8 weeks per Ryan Groene. So... I think that is simply a canned response with no real ETA, as that is what people were told back in February.

Re: Mud Flaps on 2014

Just fitted my fronts so far, thought others might want to see how they look on a granite crystal Overland with body color trim. I can't say I'm over the moon with the looks but if it keeps the rocks and rain off the body panels, I'll be happy.

I have a 2012 Jeep Grand Charokee Summit and want mud flaps. Dealer and other sources state Mopar mud flaps do not fit the Summit. Nobody states why. What was it that did not fit? Could the mud flaps be cut to fit? Would like to know why you could not use the mud flaps. Thanks.

Its the lower skirt unique to MY14+ Summit only.....can't trim flaps etc.....Heard Husky had exact fit MY14/15 mud flaps in engineering or close....

The Summit also has different wheel well flares... they're wider and have a lower profile than the Overland. That would have more of an impact on fit than a difference in lower skirts.

The skirt is what makes the well wider

If you're referring to the Overland skirt, that's true. But only because it has to match up with a flare that sticks out from the side of the vehicle further than the Summit flares do. The lines of the Overland flare actually continue into the lower skirt.

The lower skirt on the Summit appears to be flush with the outside face of the flare and those flare lines are not continued into the lower skirt.

It's the flare that determines the variation in the lower skirt at the wheel opening, not the other way around.

I was referring to where the '14+ Summit only skirt meets up to the well (rear of course) with the intent of helping the person I quoted realize the confusion Jeep created with the '13 and before Overland Summit vs the '14+ Summit. The unique skirt/front rear fascia being the main thing here. Doesn't really matter if fascia drove well/lip design or other way around. The point is '14 Summit mud flaps don't exist (Husky has design somewhere in works) and I have no idea about '13 and before or how they differ from their non-Summit counterparts. Just commenting on what I know.

Re: Mud Flaps on 2014

Can anyone tell me if the mud flaps in the below picture are the same size as the genuine Mopar molded mud flaps?

I have been looking on eBay and found some that look like the fronts are smaller compared to the genuine items.

I just received my Mopar guards here in the US, purchased from a Jeep dealer.

The measurements for the rear guard are the same.

The front guard in your photo is shorter. The one I have is about 14.5 inches long (36.83 cm - sorry don't have a metric tape measure).

If I look at the eBay listing, the image in the listing shows the fronts shorter than the ones I have.

Maybe the fronts have been re-designed. If you read the threads, the chief complaint about the front guards is their clearance.

Now I don't know whether to return the front ones I have and order these from eBay.com.au instead...
