Re: mud flaps on GC ?

Thanks Justal13 for the pics.. I plan on installing mine this weekend. If a 2012, did you have to cut anything? someone posted that it was different than the '11s... just want to confirm that before I start.

Also, on color of car..i don't think it really matters since the entire lower area is black anyway..so whether the paint is white, red, green, black, silver it is still a black flap on a black piece of trim..

also, I am a tacoma owner, and as previously stated, they have the biggest mudflaps known to mankind haha..i dont mind them tho.. keeps the rocks off the side

Re: mud flaps on GC ?

No cutting required on the 2012's (at least as far as the V6 is concerned, don't know if the HEMI exhaust is different), unless you are talking about cutting the plastic washer off the flaps before installing them. And yes, save the washer - it is important and does install per the instructions - note that there is a "thin" and "thick" side to the washer as you tighten everything up.

By the way, the "fabric" liner is pretty forgiving. Ignore the Mopar instructions and just pull it off to the side and you can access everything you need to get at. Then it just pushes back into place.

A hint - take a pliers and lightly crimp the u-clips a bit so they stay in place while you are trying to thread the screws and bolts into place. If you don't, they move all over the place. I used a small phillips screwdriver to line everything up before trying to insert the screws and bolts.

Best luck.

This is great advice.

Re: mud flaps on GC ?

Installed mine tonite. Definately more involved than expected but not too bad. The directions are horrible as previously stated. As far as I know they are on right. No gaps and they are straight. Some of the pointers helped out well..

Now that I have them on, the rear definately stick out alot. I don't mind the fronts at all. But I will keep all 4 on for the paint/plastic lowers sake..

I really don't think the front or bak are that long. Any shorter and what's the point of having them?

Re: mud flaps on GC ?

I installed the front mud flaps last night. I think I will not install the rear flaps....
Also, got the front windows tinted yesterday.

Re: mud flaps on GC ?

My white Overland will be delivered this coming week, and I will have the mud flaps installed before it leaves the dealership.

IMO, Jeeps should have mud flaps.

Didn't want to install them initially but did it anyways. They are actually looking ok on my black vehicle with 18' wheels. Installed both front and back in ~75minutes and had no trouble with the instructions but overall the install is a bit tricky (rough on your hands). Didn't remove rear tires, used a small cordless drill (you only drill in plastic) and a wrench set to tighten the screws.
I'm happy now because didn't like the dirt thrown up on the sides before...

I recently installed them as well...you are correct the directions suck! I also didn't remove the rear tire.

Don't like these cheap fabric wheel liners, never seen anything like it before.

As mention in some other threads here, these are actually what's coming on high-end vehicles now to suppress road noise.

If that's true, then, personally, I don't really care what the inside of my wheel wells are made out of as long as they don't fall apart in five years. Time will tell.
