My goofiest mod ever.

Look I don't want to spend a lot of money on this mod
and then it doesn't work on my Summit. Oh since i have
a Summit does it come in chrome to match all of the
chrome already on it? Will install void my warranty if
I try to do it myself or do I have to let the dealer do it?

Re: My goofiest mod ever.

Door lock protective cover mod provides 20% ROI

At first I thought this mod was a waste of $ (so did my wife). However, I looked at the ugly door latch plate every time I entered the Jeep and decided it had to be done. Ordered Ebay 4pcs Vehicle Door Safety Lock Protective Striker Cover for Jeep Grand Cherokee G | eBay on Sept. 5th, received today, painted to match and snapped them on my 2014 granite Summit - see attached photo.

ROI: Cost with shipping was $15.99, weight for all 4 is 0.6 z, 2014 Summit weighs o/a 5636lb with driver, weight increased by 0.000006653%, extra fuel cost over 36,000 miles ($4.00 gal @ 22 mpg) could be 4.3 cents. If purchased and installed by dealer, assuming similar cost as pin-striping ($125) and similar added value at resale as pin-striping (33%?), added value at trade in could be $41.25. With cost of $15.99 + 4.3 cents for gas and about 0.7 cents for extra tire wear, total cost of $16.04 invested for 3 years with return of $41.25 would be equivalent to return on investment of 20% per year. I can now show wife that this was not a foolish mod, it is smart investment. Calculations subject to audit.

See photos below for covers prior to painting, door latch prior to installing cover, and after snapping on cover. Time to install all 4 was about 1 minute. Many thanks for sharing this mod with the Jeep world.
