Here is where the switch goes. Sadly, there is no wire or connector to plug it into, so I extended the wires and wired them into the LED's (ambient lighting) under the footwell. Open the lid, and the bin LED lights up.

Do you have a slightly more zoomed out shot of that? Also does the led just take 12v or is there less power supplied to the LEDs under the footwell?

Here you go. LED must have a built in resistor, as it works fine with 12 VDC. The footwell LED's are also controlled by the dimmer, next to the headlight switch. The right armrest hinge arm is what actuates the micro switch.

Awesome, my next project for the day

Curious though, why not just tap off power directly in the back. Or when you say footwell do you mean the rear footwell lights?

Yes, you could tap off of the back footwell lights. I didn't tap into constant +12 v because I saw no need to have the lamp light during the day, but that's just my preference....either way will work just fine.

I haven't had a chance to mess with the light either. I will when I have free time and take some more photos then.

I wonder if I removed all of the brackets and black surrounding plastic housing would the player be slim enough to slip or hook and loop under the passenger seat; if I kept the wires connected or extended the wires? Maybe even extend the wires so that it could reach the upper shelf in the glove box and hook and loop it with Velcro. If it's not black on the sides maybe just spray paint the metal black or maybe even plasti dip. Who am I fooling, I can't remember the last time I played a CD in any of my vehicles. Well I'll see.

Oh and by the way an excellent write up and great pictures. Thank you very much.

Re: My guide to replace CD player center bin with large bin

Hi just read your post on replacing the CD player, great info thanks. Question does the bin have the small storage tray the is directly under the lid on the 2013 models? Also how long did the job take?

Re: My guide to replace CD player center bin with large bin

The bin does not include the section under the lid.
Pomdave said it cost him $130 to get the bin out to Vic, see here - Anyone want a CD player for a 2014 Laredo?
