Re: My mods

Nice work on the cup holder trim. But you know, now you have to do the shifter bezel as well so it matches.

haha thanks.

i am going to do it. i actually did it but didnt like how i cut the edges around. a lil bit of the chrome was showing. tried it like 3 times, then i ran out of vinyl. didn't have that much left.

i ordered some more yesterday and i'm also thinking about wrapping the black that surrounds the radio and other controls in the center.

Re: My mods

So I had a couple of pieces left that were long enough to do it in two pieces. Probably the best way to go about it since its a tight space.

tedious but i got it.

Re: My mods

So i just got these in today.

The quality of the plastic is actually pretty good and sturdy. The color is nice and shiny. How it will hold up we'll see.

I'm tempted to put them on like this and see how they hold up.

Mine is pealing to. Did it just pop off? I wonder if the terrain selection wheel will effect removing mine. Looks great

very easy to take off. just remove the shifter, open the glove box and the lil storage under the climate controls and you can just pull it up then disconnect a couple of wires, in your case probably 3.

Those don't look too bad from those pics- figment looks legit. Outside of the keyholes, Is there any chrome that shows through? Think the material could be painted to color match? Might be a nice alternative than spending $300 For door handles than doing the install or paying for that.

the only chrome that really shows is if you look at it from the top view but its very minimal and even that doesn't look too obvious. It doesn't cover it 100% but it's not bad looking.

I think the material could definitely be color matched. Thats actually why i bought them but I may just put them on like this. if they hold up well I could get another set and have them painted. $40 is not bad for these on ebay.

Re: My mods

I swear you and I were separated at birth. You and I seem to have the same taste in mods. I got the gloss black handle covers about a week ago and I am waiting for warmer weather to put them on. I have some gloss black vinyl left over and I plan to cover the small exposed areas of chrome and the button on the front handles. Supposed to be in the 60s mid week here in Cleveland Ohio so I may get lucky. Nice job on everything so far on your rig.

lol thanks man.

I'm doing the same thing too. yesterday i made a lil template to put black vinyl on the exposed chrome. I tested it out and its going to look good

I ended up ordering a vinyl wrap that is very similar to the color of my jeep. When it comes in i'm going to wrap 1 of the plastic handles in it and see how close it looks to the paint. if its not too off i'm just going to wrap plastic covers then stick them on.

If not, well i'll probably just put them on black. I kind of like the contrast.

we'll see.

You could also save some money if you wrap the plastic covers. They're pretty easy to wrap.

Since yours is white, it wouldn't be that hard to match it. I would think.
