It looks wicked, but I can't believe you put plastidip on your new car!

That took guts!

Anyone ever had someone black chrome their parts? Probably expensive, but would look great.

I have been planning on plasti-dipping the rims but after seeing the 22" WK1 SRT reps I am saving for those. But I guess if I am bored I will still do the rims.
Mind taking a few pics when you remove the window trim? I'd like to see how hard they are to remove as I want to do this as well.

Re: My WK2 getting de-chromed

I just removed the chrome side door rails on my 2012 BB Overland - anyone of interest in making me an offer? I hear mopar is selling them for $300 and I am of course willing to beat that. PM if you would be of interest.

Re: My WK2 getting de-chromed

Sorry didnt mean that I was removing the window trim completely, just the plasti-dip. I did too thick of coats which caused drip marks. Also at first I tried to tape off the area, but realized that wasnt the best of ideas so I removed the tape and re-did it without the tape. I may make one final attempt as it is warming up, but am on prowl for a good vinyl shop that I can work with (hopefully will do some stuff with my charger as well).

Re: My WK2 getting de-chromed

Still looking for a vinyl shop to do some more de-chroming (window trim/mirrors/door handles) but I did install the lamin-x on my tail lights (now that I know I like the look will get the rear markers ordered). I think it looks good and happy I did it. I probably will try and do my grill this weekend with plasti-dip (love this stuff!). But here is the sexy rear...

Re: My WK2 getting de-chromed

question about the lamin-x...
was this a pre-cut piece of tint that you applied to the taillight or did you cut it out yourself? also, where can I purchase Lamin-X?

Re: My WK2 getting de-chromed

I believe the website is Lamin-X.com . I got the pre-cut designs, but you will still need to trim it up afterwards. The two outside pieces were a pain due to the curve around the body and the change the light takes in the middle. Have to take your time to get out the ridges/bubbles. I know there are easier ways such as painting them, but wanted to have something that could be reversible if needed.
