The darker tints definitely look more aggressive and may not be to everyone's liking. I did a medium dark tint that comes out more like Cherry Coke and is a bit more tame. Given the OP's white with black WK2, I'd say the dark tints would look killer on his particular rig. YMMV.

Regardless, IMO any tint is better than the big red stop signs we all have on the WK2.
Moose, my WK2 is mineral grey. Funny thing is that Scott tinted them a medium tint. Maybe if I do decide to give it another try, I'll tell him a light tint. Thanks again for your advice and support!

Re: My2011 overland project

yeah, i dig these brainstorming threadz! i might take a moment to photoChop something up this week and then make a decision. I am worried that the ponch & jon from CHiPS will harass me more, if i tint the tails.

Re: My2011 overland project

jeep looks sick! question for you though, does your body shop warranty the chrome paint pieces? went to my painter (hes done all my cars) and asked him to color match the grill and all the black lower trim but he told me he wont warranty the work. he said that with time the paint will begin to flake off the chrome and lower trim. all hell warranty is paintable replacements.

Re: My2011 overland project

yes they warrantied the paint job for life. i too, found a few shops who would not take the job. i am sure there is always a higher probability associated with any new body work. with that being said, i avoid pressure washers like the plague and have the car detailed often to ensure that the paint job will last a long time...so long as my WK2 agrees with me ya know

Re: My2011 overland project

That vehicle looks GREAT!

I've got a Mineral Grey Overland that I've been trying to figure out how to "personalize". I've been thinking about some "minor" stuff like powder coating the wheels gunmetal grey & replacing or painting the chrome side mirrors Mineral Grey.

I haven't decided if I will keep the other chrome bits or get rid of as much as possible.

Re: My2011 overland project

Nicely done! I like the small detail such as the roof rack getting painted to match. I'm planning on doing mine in the same way. I thought of just putting vinyl on the window trim but after seeing this, color matching looks way better.

Re: My2011 overland project

As a chrome guy (as evidenced by my sleds front end) - I wasnt sure at first, but after looking for a bit - really like what you've done, congratulations on a head turner - but I do agree with a previous post - Id try and blend the blacks and whites somehow?? Black pinstriping or white center wheels caps - heck I dunno, just like the idea of marrying the two somehow...

The painted match looks great! Thanks for sharing your progress thus far. Did you ever get tails or do anything from since September Barl0?
