I went with the Rhino Rack Pioneer Platform and have had it fitted permanently for a little over six months now. There is a very slight increase in noise while travelling at highway speed and this is slightly more evident with a cross wind but overall it's really not bad. It comes with a levelling kit and I have mine tweaked to be perfectly level. If you decide to go with the Rhino then I have the following tips for you to save some headaches.
- it requires a torx bit for fitting.
- the bolts supplied with the levelling kit only work with both plates (for a 20mm lift). If you only fit one you will need a slightly shorter bolt.
- the instructions that come with the rack are incorrect. You will need to drill additional holes to mount the rack.
- don't plan to pick the product up from a retailer as it comes fully assembled and there is no way to transport it with your Jeep. I ended up fitting mine in the carpark with the help of a staff member from the store to lift it on.
The accessories for it are numerous. I'm about to fit up a 48" light bar to the front of it and should be able to conceal the wiring nicely under the rack and feed it in through the tail gate.
I also have the Rhino half size luggage bag and it is epic. It takes one half of the rack and I can fit exactly two full size suitcases inside it. It's fantastic for touring.
The other accessories for it include ski and snowboard mounts, bike mounts, jack and shovel holders, kayak loaders etc. Loads of options and this is why I chose it.
