Re: Never fails...

Last week, some idiot backed into my Boxster and a major damage to the driver side front wheel fender. I am soo mad that someone did that and did not even leave a note saying that they are sorry. Don't even know how much it will cost me to fix that.

I always am very careful when I open my car's doors... with my hand wrapped around the door edge so I don't ding other's car.

Hope your dent can be fixed quickly.

Cheers,
-A

Ya know Alyer, we would like to think most people are decent people, who act the way they would like to be treated...but the truth is that we live in a time when the prevailing attitude is screw people before they screw you. And the asshole who did that to your car probably has no insurance.... It's ALWAYS the losers driving beaters with no insurance who make the rest of us pay....

I agree with you wholeheartedly. Gone are those days where people were more friendlier to each other and respected other's property. But, I still keep teaching my daughter to not touch what's not ours and respect other's property. Not going to give up on that.

Cheers,

How right you are. We go through a similar parking exercise, and our 14 yr old vehicle is still pretty much ding free. Simple golden rule reminder might help some of the jackwagons out there.

This. And to be honest, most people don't even know the half of it.

Re: Never fails...

I have seen the beater car door dinger scenario happen so many times when parked out in nowhere land that I now park what I call hiding in plain sight. I park at the end of the rows or fringe side area where there are cars around two to three spaces away, my car blends in the pack better and draws much less attention.

I park like you do, except I have scratches on just about every panel on my WK2 now, from off roading (branches dragging against the paint, mostly).

ahhh well. Maybe they'll buff out?

Yes, its totally different when you choose to do things that result in damage! I want to reserve the right to have dents and scratches or not.

Re: Never fails...

That totally sucks. I feel for you. I bought my GC a week ago, and right after picking it up from the dealer, I stopped at Home Depot, and like others here, parked far away from anyone. I came out, and a POS Toyota had parked next to me on the passenger side. No dent, but a nice scratch on the passenger door. I returned the favor x10.

Went straight to Pep Boys and bought and installed 1/2" black body side moulding.
