New Bumper needed :(

So with my luck last night driving around 80Km an hour a Coyote decided to sprint across the road. 5 inches and he would of cleared the front end.

Well of course I felt bad for the animal as it didn't survive and police had to shoot it but coyotes are over populated out here.

The GC on the other hand will need a new front bumper.

I was surprised the damage it did. I think if it wasn't -26 Celsius the bumper wouldn't of shattered like that.

The question is do I do an insurance claim or out pocket. I am assuming an oem bumper with paint will push $1500 out here?

Re: New Bumper needed :(

When we, unfortunately, hit an young coyote that ran in front of us in another car, my insurance did not go up nor did it go as any "points" against our driving record. They considered it an "act of God". Just had to pay my deductible of $250.

Did you ask if it will affect your insurance rate?

Great. If you wanted, you could send me $100 for saving you $1400-$1700,

Seriously though, glad it worked out. If it happened to me, I'd not drill my nice new bumper for the license plate frame. That is if it wasn't too against the law where you live.

We're required to have one, but 2 out of 3 cars do not and it hasn't been an issue. I may just plug mine on the Jeep

Re: New Bumper needed :(

Haha thanks for the advice!

As for the front plate they are strict out here in Canada especially in Ottawa. I wish I could remove it as it's a cleaner look.
