Re: New Jersey Powder Coating

I already dipped my wheels and I love the way they look, but I'm looking for more of a gloss black color and I can't get to what I want even with the glossifier.I also want something more permanent. And I have minor imperfections with the plasti dip on my wheels.

Re: New Jersey Powder Coating

I have pictures on my thread below. It's in the members ride showoff under 2011 overland black on black, if the link below doesn't work. I'm on my phone right now and it doesn't let me upload pictures like I can on my comp.

Re: New Jersey Powder Coating

I actually just heard back from a place with a quote of $600 to sand blast, repair imperfections in the wheels, straighten, and powder coat gloss black. And it comes with a life time warrantee on the gloss black finish. Not sure if that's normal or if it's a lot.

For that price you can probably sell your wheels and get new wheels for a little bit more.

Re: New Jersey Powder Coating

Thats what I was thinking too. I've already found a set of OE Reps of my wheels in gloss black for mids $500's not including shiping or mounting and balancing of tires. So overall it would be a litte more than getting them powder coated, but if I can then sell my wheels, it would end up being much cheaper all together. I was cruising the classifieds section to see f I can come across anything.

Re: New Jersey Powder Coating

That's the normal price in NJ if it includes tire work and balance. Word of advice, DO NOT use USA Wheels in Fairfield.

Re: New Jersey Powder Coating

That was one of the places I was looking at but not anymore now that you said that. Did you have issues with them?

They did two wheels mate and two wheels semi gloss, then tried to hide it by matching the pairs on each side. After they re did it, it did not last long enough and it scratched and peeled off really easy. TRG Coating, another company told me that USA Wheels uses some kind of paint and tells the customer it's powdercoat. He said they had fixed/re-done wheels for a lot of their customers. His email is trgcoating@gmail.com (don't know the address, somewhere in north Jersey).

Another shop that got back to me at the time was:

Re: New Jersey Powder Coating

Oh wow, that's crazy. I've been at a party with the owner of USA Wheels before and from your story, and now that you mention it, it doesn't surprise me. I appreciate the heads up.

I'll take a look at both the places you said above and get quotes from them.
