Yeah there for sure is a big difference of on the road lighting color between the SRT fogs and stock HID headlights. Infact it's a huge difference. Have any of you guys been driving down a pitch black road and turn your SRT fogs off to only have the headlights on? They look so weird and surprisingly dim and ver yellowish. I'd consider a set of CBIs or something maybe down the road.

The 66340HBI bulbs that are included from the factory are higher than 4300K (they are 4650K). There is no DOT regulation that states headlights must be 4300K. There are plenty of luxury vehicles with 5-6K HIDs and many vehicles with LED headlights are 6K and beyond.

Have also preformed this SRT/LED fog light modification to a '14 Limited. Can say with certainty that the improvement is both instantly noticeable and instantly better. These long night drives should be more interesting, being able to see.....everything! Sad that the light output from the halogen headlight bulbs is not of the same quality.

@Da Jeeper - The 6000k color temperature certainly creates a whiter light on the road -- which creates more contrast. However, the D3S Philips Ultinon bulbs are rated at about 20% less lumens then your stock bulbs (Just an FYI).

Yeah I know, what I meant to say was I don't expect Jeep to switch to some other higher K bulb, atleast at this time. You are right though, infact when we were down in Orlando last month we had a new Toyota Corolla loaner than had factory LED headlights and they were for sure 5-6K. That was the first car I have driven with LED headlights and I actually really liked them.

Re: New OEM 2015 SRT LED fog lights installed in High Altitude. Pictures and install!

@Nitemare3219 - The headlight bulbs do need to be homologated for North American use. Philips 6000k D3S bulbs specifically say not for use in North American and Europe on them. Philips North America does not sell X-treme Vision bulbs because of the higher k.

Yep, saw that..but as mentioned with fogs bright and white...it drew my eyes to them rather than on the road where they belong...the 6k bulbs having the whiter light, blend right in so the eyes stay focused
With the 5k extremes being yellow in comparison, it seemed better to drive with them off

I had a Mazda..yes I know...mistake, but the fogs and headlights on it were better than my current wk2 setup..don't know the color but both fogs and headlights were bright white

Acura and Ford's LED headlights are 5500K

I just completed the install in about 35 minutes. They seem to be aimed at the right spot but will have to take it out tonight when it is dark to fully test them out.

Ford's LEDs seem more blue than 5500K. At LEAST 6000K based on my experience (I've driven a few of the new 2016 Explorers). They look good, but their output actually isn't that amazing. They appear to use a single LED in a reflector housing. My HIDs seem brighter for sure. I think the best implementation like many manufacturers are doing is using several LEDs per side.

My 13 Gt500 had the best lights of any car I owned. My 13 explorer was way brighter than my 15 HA in my opinion. It's got to be the optics or reflectors because I looked at the bulbs and they are the same things as the jeeps My high beams on my limited explorer literally made me feel like it was daylight out. My new osram 5000k bulbs are competing nicely for color and the srt fogs blow my explorer and mustangs out of the water.
