Makes sense, how about this Brodit vent mount?
It mounts to the vent a bit lower.

Re: New phone mounting bracket

Yeah, I looked at it and didn't like it's blocking vent. I had one like that for my wife'sMB and it was for navi. Then during hot summer, suddenly I found out navi screen looked little funny. Color was uneven. So, I contacted the maker and they told me sometimes when the A/C's cold air blows too much directly to the back of LCD screen, it could cause this kind of problem.

Re: New phone mounting bracket

I see, I'm not worried too much about that, more about the stability of the mount and how it's fixed to the vent, I wouldn't want it to move...
Decided on the Kuda mount and using it with the Brodit (Proclip) iPhone 4 mount without case.

Re: New phone mounting bracket

Just installed the ProClip Brodit holder for my HTC Thunderbolt to the Kuda WK2 phone mount and here are a few pics of the final installation.
Here's a pic of the phone and holder.

Here's a close up of the phone and holder to give you an idea of how much of the vent it may cover up.

Here's a shot from the point of view of the driver looking forward. This will give you an idea of where the phone is in relation to your line of sight.

Finally here's a side shot of the Kuda mount with ProClip holder.

Re: New phone mounting bracket

I ordered the simple Brodit iPhone 4 holder (Standard Padded Holder without case #510164)
and the vent mount (ProClip Center Mount #854549) at Proclip USA.
If I need to charge (rarely), I plug in the white Apple cable. (I have it plugged in at the office and at home).
I wanted the phone to mount a bit lower and do not mind it sitting in front of the vent, also looks clean.

Photoshop for the lack of the mount (backorder) and the Jeep (March):

Re: New phone mounting bracket

After much thought about this, I just placed an order of KUDA's phone mount bracket(http://www.kudausa.com/jeep-grand-ch...ack-a1660.html).

It's not easily reachable like the other KUDA's but I like its distinct look and it doesn't block any part of center deck. I will post up pics after installing it.

I had a Mercedes in 2004 (C220) and the Nokia phone was fully integrated with the steering wheel so I never had to look at the phone to initiate a call or access the phone book but now with the Smart phones I find it very practical to be able to access the device when I have to....

I don't like to use fully integrating feature with my Blackberry due to privacy reason. And with Jeep, Jeep's Uconnect can't read Korean language yet. Too bad.

Re: New phone mounting bracket

This mount looks nice. But I held my iPhone 4 in the location where it would be in my GC with this mount, and ruled it out for safety reasons. Eyes would have to be pointed too far from the road ahead.

Re: New phone mounting bracket

I agree - for use as a phone, I'd be happy with it in the armrest and use Uconnect.
I prefer the iPhone's navigation apps over the Jeep's, and that's why I'd like the iPhone mounted where I can see both phone and road.
I like your setup, but would like the phone even higher.

This is my favorite mount location by far but I also admit that I use the phone and I shouldn't...

Nice. That's BB Torch, right?

I finally got my KUDA bracket but couldn't find BB 9900 cradle in stock. It's coming from England...
