It doesn't come down to knee area. But if you bend your knee high, then you could hit it with your knee.

Re: New phone mounting bracket

Here is the Soundgate M2 mount. From what I have read, the tape residue should clean off with no problems.

http://www.amazon.com/SoundGate-M2-e...5539754&sr=8-1

I am temporarily using a Kensington iPhone holder (search Amazon) to hold the phone. The Soundgate M2 disk is glued to the Kensington phone holder. Not real pleased with it because it looks bulky, and the grippers on the sides make it hard to touch the keypad in those areas. So I have ordered two of these cases:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003V2NVQ4

and will glue one of the M2 disks to one of the cases.

Here is the Soundgate M2 folded down as it would be when the phone is not attached.

I didn't want my phone to be mounted high up in front of me. So, I decided to go with KUDA mount that goes to right side of center deck. Then I used Brodit cradle without charging kit since I don't use it often in the car.

I'm happy with the way it came out.
Thanks for sharing! I juat have never liked the idea of covering my vent. I like this set up the best so far.

Re: New phone mounting bracket

how difficult is the kuda mount to install if you don't care about the charging option? i'm a girl and will not be taking off any part of my dash. previously, i've used the proclip solution but it's never covered the entire vent like it has to for the W2K.

rustyosaurus - Did you see the photos of tat2boy's setup? He used the same Kuda mount as I, but used a holder without the charging option. It's an easy installation. Really. I especially love the location, because I can reach the Hold button on my iPhone without removing my hand from the steering wheel and I can see it without having to look very far away from the road.

What is the real benefit over keeping the phone in your pocket? I see it looks organised but are you able to "play" with the phone mounted so low, just curious.
Now I can check my incoming call and email without holding the phone. It may look mounted low but it's actually very easy to reach. Just like computer in police car. I just don't like smartphone screen to be mounted at my eye level even though it's easy to see since I don't use it as navi. Just personal preference.

One of the reasons that I want my phone mounted so high is that I don't yet trust the real time traffic information based routing of the nav system. I like to check it against the routing information that I get from the MapQuest app on my iPhone.

Yeah, here in Korea, WK2 comes with modified navi system. It has navi with real time traffic info, DMB(TV).

Re: New phone mounting bracket

Here's a new mount I just came across last week. Seems to be relatively compact and easily movable from car to car. Only negative seems to be the disc that needs to be installed on back of your phone. I am looking at the Xway version but they have a few others that are less noticable for smaller phones. I don't have this yet so can't comment on it but have read some good reviews on Amazon.

Re: New phone mounting bracket

Got the Brodit (Pro-Clip) adjustable mount for iPhone with ultra slim bumber case from Amazon (~$4).
Removed the swivel mount and mounted adjustable plate directly on vent mount > Moves iPhone closer to the mount and the angle works perfectly). Very happy with this solution and plenty of air going through in the back, vent is open but air gets redirected.
