New phone mounting bracket

I just found out KUDA has new mounting bracket for WK2. One thing that bothers me is that it might intefere with passenger's left knee.

I had KUDA before on my FX and loved it though.

Re: New phone mounting bracket

bigpanda,
I've checked the Kuda web site, but I can't find a link to the WK2 bracket which you have pictured (only older models; their "Since 2008" brackets are for WK model).

Can you provide a web link?

I actually got the pic from KUDA directly. It is for sale but they didn't put it on their web site since they're still waiting for its installation guide from Germany.

Re: New phone mounting bracket

Just to update this thread, I see that Kuda does now list the mount for the WK2 on their web site. I wish they had more photos of the setup from different angles.

Re: New phone mounting bracket

I actually prefer their other WK2 mount: http://www.kudausa.com/jeep-grand-ch...ack-a1663.html. I placed the order Friday and it should arrive by Monday. I'll let everyone know how it looks and take pics of the install. I've bought several other Kuda mounts for my WJ and JK and they are great mounts!

I kind of like that one too. But I need to see how it's gonna installed since it doesn't look that firmly mounted. Please give us a feedback with pic. Thanks.

Re: New phone mounting bracket

Thanks, tat2boy! I was planning to mount a dock for my iPhone below that vent, but prefer the higher location of that Kuda mount. I have an iPhone4 now, but have ordered an iPhone 4S. Since I plan to use Siri, the proximity of the phone's Home button to the steering wheel would be better with the Kuda mount.

Are you planning to connect your iPhone to the car with a cable? If so, where do you plan to run it? Through the inside of the vent?

I've decided to connect my iPhone to a DC outlet for power alone, rather than to the UConnect's USB port, not only because it would be easier to do, but also because the Uconnect sometimes gets confused when I connect my iPhone to it through both Bluetooth and the USB port.

Re: New phone mounting bracket

For those of you interested in buying a Kuda mount I just got an email with a 15% off discount code for Black Friday. The code is BLFRI and is good until Nov 26. Unfortunately this came after I bought mine but you guys could probably use it and it doesn't look like it's a unique one-time code. Mine should be at the house when I get home and I'll try to install it tonight with pics.

Heads up if you do order one from Kuda and pay via PayPal that you'll get double charged on tax if you live in Texas. I called Kuda and told'em what happened and they say it's a PayPal issue and they are trying to fix it. They immediately refunded me the extra tax that was charged.

I'm actually planning on using this for my HTC Thunderbolt but I don't plan on hardwiring a powerline to the mount. If I ever have to charge my phone in the car I use a basic cigarette lighter plug. But when I remove the panel to install the mount I'll take pics to see if it would be easy to install a line behind it.

I checked Kuda's site and they have some nice cradles for the iPhone with builtin pass through charging and synch lines. You may also want to consider one of their cradles if you purchase their mount.
