New-to-me WC2 - looking for advice on two add ons

Good day to you all,

I am new to the 4x4 community, entering it as of Saturday when I acquired a 2014 WC2 Limited.

I LOVE this thing. Best vehicle on 4 wheels I've ever owned and definitely the best modern 4 wheel vehicle I've ever driven.

That said --- I find myself wanting one immediate exterior upgrade to help my beloved spousal unit who is a shorty: running boards.

I'm looking for direct no-drill type and in doing a cursory search am seeing a lot of praise for the Steelcraft STX100 / Iconic CXV series but am wondering what other options might be out there that come with personal experience recommendation - especially if you have a silver variant like mine that you found looks perfect with it!

The second accessory item is kind of a wish list thing, not necessary, and I'm not even sure exists... but additional fog lamps that can be linked with the factory fog lights or on a separate switch that might be designed to fit into where the tow hook plug bezel piece exists now.

Does anything like that exist?

Thank you all in advance! I look forward to learning so much about this new world of the WC2 and 4x4s on this board!

Re: New-to-me WC2 - looking for advice on two add ons

Welcome to Colorado, The WK2 owners club and this forum.

I can't really help with your first question. I have a short wire too but she has no problem with the Grand Cherokee as our other Jeep is a JKUR with 4.5" lift and 37" tires and she hops into it just fine.

To sort of answer your second question - "The second accessory item is kind of a wish list thing, not necessary, and I'm not even sure exists... but additional fog lamps that can be linked with the factory fog lights or on a separate switch that might be designed to fit into where the tow hook plug bezel piece exists now"

I originally mounted two Rigid Industries Duallys in my lower front grill (see below and to the outside of the license plate)

I made a mounting bracket and wired them myself.

I now added a winch and brush guard so I moved them up to the brush guard.

Others have mounted LED lights/lightbars behind their main grill also. Lots of options and since you don't have/use tow hooks then you should be able to make that location work too. A recent thread also showed where someone replaced their stock fog lights with square LEDs.

Thanks BigCat...

I've actually lived here in CO for just shy of 32 years now... far more home than "where I was born" ever was.

That said - thank you for the input on the lights. I'm REALLY not good with electrical so I'd probably want to take it in to someone to do --- I was just thinking that locale, since I don't have the tow hooks, would be PERFECT for some yellow / big lumens add on fog lights. I'll look deeper into that - because behind the grill would be really good placement too.

Sorry confused you with etl330 from the other thread.

Hey bigcat, that Trailhawk is certainly something to be in awe of and really makes a very cool statement just by the looks/stance.VERY impressed.
Vance,I was kinda like you and ended up with a head cold looking at various manufacturers, styles, designs, tread plate patterns, materials etc,I ended up lucking out and bought a set of manufacturer steps including all brackets from Craigslist and couldn't be happier,so good luck with final choice, the best part though is pretty much all vendors are a no drill application.
As for extra lighting,I went with a 20" light bar mounted behind the lower plastic fascia, and a dedicated light switch bought from Amazon.com for the cabin.Simple and works well, but as you noted, you aren't great with electrical,I would suggest making copies of the products you want,(from whatever websites you choose,my preference is Amazon as they pretty much carry everything) and showing them to your would be installer to confirm they can actually do it for you or may recommend what would work.
Welcome to owning a Jeep, they are,to me,one of the best 4x4 vehicles available on the market today, and since 1941.Happy Jeeping!
